Does anyone have any info on any schools, instructors or sambo players in South East Florida. I have some MMA experience, but want to learn a little more of specific style (sambo). Any info is greatly appreciated.

Lots of BJJ but I don't know of any Sambo.

Try www.onedragon.com

9117 Taft Street in Pembroke Pines. Very Americanized Judo class and BJJ classes gi and no gi. Straight Blast Gym Vice President Luis Gutierrez, SBG Coach and BJJ Brown Belt.

With all of the schools availaible, Luis is my first choice.

I'm Actually In A Very Good Mma School At The Moment, But Was Curious To See If There Where Any Sambo/systema Instructors In My Area. My School Is Also Heavy In Bjj, But I Train Mostly No Gi.
I Guess Nostalgia Kinda Got To Me :) .

One Other Question, While My Training Is Not Really Sambo Its Probably Close Enough In Nature That I Can Try To Compete In Sambo Tourney's, Does Any One Have Any Idea Where I Can Get Sambo Gear , Based On Info I Found, They Pretty Strict On Uniform, And No Ma Supply Place I Looked Sells Kurtkas Or Wrestling Shoes

Thanks Again

As for where to get Sambo Gear... typeing in "Sambo Kurtka" into Google gave me this site http://www.ultimatesambo.com/catalog.htm in the number 2 position (scroll down a bit. Kurtka, shorts and Sambofki (shoes)... and reasonably priced.

Further down the Google list provided this site http://www.sambolessons.borec.ru/show_cat2.php?grid=20 with kurtka, Shorts, t-shirts, and shoes for sale.

My school has small supply of Oleg Taktarovs sambo shoes... not sure on sizes, but they are good shoes. Let me know sizes and Ill check, or email Oleg (his site is Olegt.com) with questions.

There are other sellers of Sambo gear too.

Do you want Sambo or Systema?

These are two different animals completely.

Why do you need competition Sambo equipment? There are like zero Sambo competitions in the SouthEastern US. Train with a Judo jacket and shorts if you want a feel for it.

Not always so different ;)

Though Sport Sambo and Systema are definatly 2 seperate branches on the same tree.

My comment was based on the fact that most people looking for Sambo are looking for a (hard style)grappling system similar to Judo and are looking to train competitvely if not compete in sport.

People looking for a soft style/ energy flowing/ yielding type system gravitate towards systems like what we commonly see in Systema.

Judo vs Aikido

Sanshou vs Tai Chi

Sambo vs Systema

Certainly they are linked and may be from the same tree but they definitely have their own identities.
