Ill bare that in mind thanks Jeff.
G’day Ryan,
1. on the language subject: if you can speak mandarin, you shouldn’t have any communication problem throughout mainland china, since mandarin is the official language in china.
2. on the searching of martial arts teacher subject: i do not recommend any of the martial arts schools, as 99.99% of all the martial arts schools in china do not teaching the real thing. the real martial artists are hidden amount the general public. it is not an easy journey in searching of the true arts.
ps. if anybody asks for a teaching fee, don’t learn from them. true martial artists do not trade their arts with $$.
3. on the style of martial arts: i suggest you should search for an external style. it is hard for a modern day chinese (.younger generation ) to understand the internal style due to their current education system, i’ve found it even harder to learn the internal system as an oversea born chinese ( born in new zealand, raised in malaysia ), even thought i speak the language with the chinese culture background.
all the best for your journey.
rgds,
dennis
