View Full Version : Bounty Hunters
Just curious to know what the legal requirements for this job are. I don't intend to persue this as a career, but I see alot of these guys on TV lately, and I wonder what they had to do to become who they are.

Well let's see, "Dog" the Bounty Hunter is a former outlaw biker and criminal who found himself serving several years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice Institutional Division. He later found his way and began putting folks of his own ilk back in jail after jumping bond. I would say that there aren't many legal requirements. In Texas you do have to be a licensed private investigator.
I've seen a TV thing about it, I can't remember the guy's name but he made millions doing this. He doesn't go run all over the country anymore he just sits in his office and supervises the things (when he wants to).
But apart from that I didn't hear there's much "success rate" in this way.
In most states, there is no legal requirments to be a bounty hunter... just say "Im a bounty hunter" and due to a nice loophole, you now have the legal authority to forcibly enter homes, cuff people, and drag them across the country.
"Bounty Hunter" sounds so........cool.
"Fugitive Recovery Agent" or "Bond Enforcement" sounds so sterile.
Dog the bounty hunter : When is the second season coming out??
Around here, the only legal requirement to be a bounty hunter seems to be to have a warrant out for your own arrest...
