View Full Version : Self-Defense Course Name
I have recently become sponsored by a founding member of the American Shorin-ryu Karate Association. He is sponsoring me as a "self-defense" instructor and wants me to come up with a name for what I will be teaching. (HE approved my status as an instructor after an interview and short test of what I would like to teach.) I will be given a rank in his association's self-defense branch after a peer review and further testing. Basic self-defense mainly geared towards others with disabilities. He is also so going to instruct me by video tape and by in person reviews. I "will not be teaching shorin-ryu" but will be teaching and adding some of its self-defense techniques with what I already know.. He would like me to come up with a name that points out the flexiblity and adaptability of people who have over come what other's view as thier challenges.
Thank You

Unless you are teaching "specific" disabilities, I would try something like...
Defense-able(?)
I saw a great wheelchair MA once named Ron Scanlon who was a
"Wheelchair Warrior" he teaches Ron Scanlon's San Soo Kung Fu in the LA area. You might want to reach out to him as a resource.
Thanks for the ideas, Will let you Know what I decide on as soon as possible.

Doesn't have to be flashy. My course is called-
"PEGNRL-170: Basic Self Defense"
...and it's FULL every semester.
I think we are going to use ASKA Defense Abled School, for our course/school name. My students will call me instructer Runer.
Thanks

Im going to start doing a self defense program for a gym chain.
Im going to call it...
K.I.S.S-D. (Keep It Simple Self Defense).
T-shirt will have the anacronym inside a lipstick mark.
Maybe I should have them say... "I got K.I.S.S-D. by Jeff Burger"
Jeff
I like that, I like some other names for my course, but due to sponsorship I am very limited.
