One of these days I'm going to just take one martial art and stick with it... but not today.

(which is to say, one of these days I'm not going to chase after every art that looks cool...(

Anyways... I've been wanting to try Escrima, but I'm having issues actually finding a place that teaches it... (too many martial arts like that... *sigh*)

Anyways, I was wondering if anyone knew of an easy way to find a (what do you call the filipino martial arts schools anyways?). I know some styles have databases set up with information of schools and/or instructors all over (like in BJJ and capoeira), so I guess I'm wondering if there's anything like that for escrima/kali/etc.

Dang.

Yeah, I tried that. Well... under martial arts in the yellow pages.

Nadda. Would that mean I'm probably out of luck? I thought things usually got in there from placing an ad or something... although in retrospect the ads probably come extra... ah well.

(Yeesh... how many independant Tae Kwon Do places do you need?)

IMO you can explore other arts.
You have your base art / stuff that you keep close to you and you exlpore other stuff. Maybe you add something, maybe to change a bit maybe you take away.

However if I had to pick one art and one art only id have to go with Ju Jutsu (the real kind :wink2: )

I mean what DOESNT it have?

Phonebook.
The yellow pages just have the commercial schools listed. Try Google. Search for your town and the name of an art that interests you. Make sure you try all possible names (escrima, eskrima, kali, arnis). If you don't find one, try replacing your town with nearby towns. You'll still miss schools that aren't listed anywhere online, but I've found lots of schools this way that aren't listed in the phonebook.
