Just got finished watching Tom yum goong which is Ong Bak 2, Tony Jaa and his stunts are really sick and crazy but not in a bad why in a good way. The Movie is not supposed to hit until mid january but at my local flea market they all ready have it so of couse it was pirated but I could not help myself so I had to buy it and it had subtitles. The movie's story line was different and some characters names had been changed but this movie kept me on the edge. The fight scenes were great and if you liked the first ong bak check this out.
Watch the trailer and get the info here

How on earth is it Ong Bak 2?
Yes, 2 people in the movie were in Ong Bak, and I bet the movie has a similar feel.... but Tony Jaa who was Ting in Ong Bak, becomes a monk and renounces violence... he then goes on to play a completly different character in this movie named Kham .... and Petchthai Wongkamlao's character DIED in Ong Bak... yet here he is, playing a cop. In Australia
Calling this Ong Bak 2 is like calling the movie "Hard to Kill", "Above the Law 2"
My question is, "is the acting any better?" 'cause it was pretty bad in the first one... Great fights, but baaad acting

I disagree about the acting. I though Tony Jaa was unconvincing, but I thought most everyone else was great. I thought the villain (with the tracheotomy) was fantastic; I thought Humlae was great, and the girl playing Muay was good, too. I felt they played their parts a little over the top, but when it's coming from a different language, I think it makes the characters a little easier to follow. Half the time, I felt you didn't even need the subtitles because the actors were so emotive. Also, I thought Humlae died also, but I just watched it again, and I think it shows him being ordained back at Nong Pradu village. I could be mistaken. I've seen it a bunch of times and didn't notice this until just now.
I, on the other hand, agree that the acting sucked, but I don't watch kung fu moves for the acting anyway.
If so I would not have the collection of movies I have.

It's ong bak 2 even on the dvd the director even says it on the making I was saying that as well, why and the world change names, storylines and the title as well. He said he wanted to try something totally different in vice a verser, don't ask me what he means but thats what he said. The acting was cool to me but the stunts and the fight scenes were off the chain, meaning they were series. The fight scenes will have you wanting more. If you have a flea market around your way check it out and see if anyone have it. If you can't find it I will just say do what my friends do but I don't do, that is download tom yum goong, then download subtitle software and create the subtitles for the movie.

It sounds crazy but it is ONG BAK 2 because the dvd I brought also camed with the making of the movie on it. The director said that he wanted to try something different in vice a verse don't ask me what he ment but thats what he said. I do agree they should just say it is another movie but it is ong bak 2. If you have a flea market where you are check there and if you can't find it you can do what my friends do and I don't do. You can download the movie, then download subtitle software and create the subtitles yourself.

Wow, you posted the same thing twice and Im still not sure what your saying.
I have no idea what a "vice a verse" is, and correct me if Im wrong but "try something different" usually means by default "Not the same".

The only reason I posted twice is because I forgot the quote the first time, second if you want to watch the movie and find out the info that it is ong bak 2 for yourself, just as I said before if you can't find it at some type of video store or a subtitle version from off the internet, well you can download the movie and then download the subtitle software and then create the subtitles yourself. When I said vice a verse I was talking about what the director said during the making.

I think it is pretty standard in Asia to take a popular movie and make it "2" , even if the sequel has nothing to do with the original. As long as the star is the same...
I can understand if the director said something like "He wanted Tony Jaa's next movie to have the same excitement level of ONG BAK!" I don't understand thai, but just from watching the trailers shown, this new story doesn't seem to be connected to ONG BAK in anyway. The cool thing that I noticed was one of the characters that Jaa has to fight. Hiring the capoeira guy from the Zero Gravity crew was a good choice. He's very acrobatic, and I can bet the scene between him and Tony will be explosive. Also, they got Nathan Jones, bad *** wrestler (he has a few appeareances in WWE with Undertaker). They're moving on up!
We do it here in the US also, too many times
Back to the Future 1,2,3, Rambo (3), Spider Man 1,2 Die Hard 1,2,3, Men in Back 1,2 and let's not forget:
Nightmare on Elm Street, Robocop 1,2,3, Halloween, Jason,
and ROCKY 1-5! And they're making a Rocky 6!
Army of Darkness was a good sequel.
I think it is pretty standard in Asia to take a popular movie and make it "2" , even if the sequel has nothing to do with the original. As long as the star is the same...

I dont dispute that some idiot decided to call it "Ong Bak 2", especially in some interview, or said "its like Ong Bak 2" or something similar, however it is NOT officially "Ong Bak 2".
The story is not the same, most of the characters are not the same, at least one not-the-same characters died in the "original"... It doesnt even say "Ong Bak 2" on the official website.

Dude the movie is ong bak 2 got to face the fact if you want go to google or any other search engine and type ong bak 2, toom yum goong will pop up. Even in the interview if the director says it's ong bak 2 then it's his movie. I say down load the movie, making and trailer, download subtitle worshop and create the subs. In asia this happens alot a movie comes out and the sequal has nothing to do with the first one but yet the people in the first one are in the sequal with a new plot and new names. Even in anime, for example, the anime series comes out, then the anime movie or live action movie comes out and they don't even come close to related to one another but yet the same characters are in there maybe with the same name or not but sometimes a different plot.
If only I could reach through this screen and smack you.... just a little bit... "dude".
Let me be very clear here.
I do not care, even a little bit, what someone says in an interview. Nor do I care what google says. The title is not Ong Bak 2. The storyline is not Ong Bak 2. The website does not call it Ong Bak 2.
Now, if some jackass says "its Ong Bak 2" in an interview, but the story isnt the same, the characters arnt the same, the title never says it, nor do even the production notes it isnt "2". Its just not. Even if it was ORIGINALLY titled "Ong Bak 2"... Its not now.
Finally, Ill advise you to quit advocating an illegal action on this website.

If only I can reach through this screen and smack you alot, if someone who is the director of a movie say this new movie is the sequal to something else then there should not even be any argue. For eample, if you invited me over your house for thanksgiving, you cooked a turkey and you know you cooked it so you tell me this is a turkey and I say no it is duck. Do you get what I am saying if the dude who directed the movie say this is ong bak 2 then there should not be any argue saying it's not. I admit I said the same thing how can this be ong bak 2 and just about everything changed well if he says it is he made the movie, then I can't argue with him saying it's not.Do you get what I am saying. As for as advocating illegal action I don't do any of that but I was trying to get you to listen but I will stop talking about downloading becuae your right it is an illegal action.
Well, I guess we should all just refer to all books or movies by their working titles from now on.
That makes sense.........
Have you seen Batman: Intimidation? Or maybe Underdogs? No? Huh....

For reading this entire thread when I could be doing something more productive, like changing the air in my tires or watching the grass in my drive way grow.
Geesh!!
The idiocy of it all makes you feel almost like your brains liquified and leaked out your ear dont it?
Thats pretty much how I felt....

I looked at the web site in the first post and no where does it state that this is OB2. There is an interview with Prachya Pinkaew, the writer/director (whatever), and he doesn't even say that it is part 2. It is a completely new and different movie.
Well, not totally different; there is the same bad acting, flashy martial arts and really hot Asian chicks.

On the dvd in the interview he said it was ong bak 2, that trailer on the site if you were able to get that in english let me know how. In the first one the acting was so and so ok but I don't know I did not pay much of the acting any mine I just liked the fighting and stunts.
Whether it's Ong Bak 2 or not, doesn't matter. We're all here to see what new feats Tony Jaa has performed in this movie. :D
