View Full Version : Adding on Hapkido
I take tkd and I'm really interested in hapkido. My master also teaches hapkido so I could take it from him. Since I've pretty much just started tkd do you think I should start hapkido now or what until I'm more advanced in tkd?

What are your goals in studying? If you study for a self-defense application, I would definitely take up Hapkido. It has lots of practical (and painful) applications. If, on the other hand, you're looking to excel at TKD competitions, the split of your attention might make it harder.
I'm not looking to excel at tkd competitions, my mom won't even let me enter. However, I am interested in the self-defense part of Hapkido. Besides the fact it looks really cool! :wink2:

If you think you can handle two styles at the same time, well go for it.

If your teacher will teach you both, then do both if thats the path you want to walk, i think taekwondo and hapkido can develop simultaneously as seperate arts quite well.
Thanks for the replys. I think I will add on hapkido, but just wait a little bit.
