I did this with Kickboxers too, but who are your favorite Boxers of all time?
Mine would have to be Vitali Klitschko, Mike Tyson, Riddick Bowe, Lennox Lewis, Evander Holyfield, Larry Holmes, Muhammad Ali, George Foreman, and Joe Frazier.
lol..klitscho?? well roy jones jr. is my favorite forever, although he went out like a big labia majora against tarver, he still had the best skill and class I've ever seen in a boxer.

Yeah Klitschko. He's from my native country of the Ukraine, so I gotta cheer for him.
Roy Jones Jr is great, along with Bernard Hopkins.

Muhammed Ali. There has never been anyone like him. I really believe he was the greatest boxer that ever lived. In his prime, before the government screwed him, he was virtually invincible. Plus, he was good looking, intelligent, witty, clever and had depth. The Elvis of boxing. Those were great days!
Rocky Marciano. 100% pure aggression with a head like a bowling ball and built like a fire plug. I don't think he would have beaten Ali in his prime, but it would have been a helluva fight.
Joe Lewis...for class alone.
Roberto Duran...in his prime before he got weird. Fast, mean, intense.
Ray Robinson (Sugar). Heavy weights should've feared him.

Vitali Klitschko, and his brother; whatever his name is. Those guys fought with heart. The Klitschkko fight with Lewis (I think) that was stoppped due to a bad cut he received; without the referee stoppage it would have been bad for the champ. Sorry Doug, but I have to agree and disagree with you on Roy Jones Jr. To me, he is way deep in talent and skill and very shallow in the class department.
I know no one has ever heard of Bubba Busceme. He is a fighter from my home town of Nederland, TX. He had some pro fights in the 70's and early 80's. His career was stopped short after his meeting with Roberto Duran. It wasn't pretty and he retired soon after.
My all time favorite would have to be George Foreman. He may not have started out as such, but the majority of his boxing career, and the whole of his life since has been one of class. I love that he isn't scared to defend his convictions, that he continued to train and fight well into his 50's, and that he has been a positive role model for inner city youth.

Muhammed Ali
Though I havent seen much of their fights.
Jack Johnson
Rocky Marciano
Oscar Dela Hoya
Roy Jones Jr.
Sugar Ray Leonard
Mike Tyson (the early years)
Georger Foreman for what he did when he was young and that he kept going and going and going.
Sometimes its the rivalries that really make the fights.
Ali, Foreman, Frasier
Leonard, Hearns, Hagler, Duran.
On my list of guys I wanted to see get their butt kicked...
Hector Macho Camacho

I also (while not my favorite) like Foreman, Ali, and Frazier.
Marciano was excellent.
I also like Tommy Morrison.

* sigh * All these... heavyweights.
Roy Jones Jr. Floyd Mayweather, Sugar Ray Leonard, Ali (of course), and Tyson in his prime. Now that his boxing career is officially over, I would love to see him do something like finish high school, maybe even take some college courses. Also, I would love to see him open a boxing school, provided he has good help. Those are just some ideas. :bandit:

One of the most exciting fighters to watch is Prince Naseem (spelling?), a Brit of Arabic descent. I only saw him fight once but i have to say it is the wildest style i have ever seen in my life. He holds his hands at his sides and doesn't block. He simply bends backwards to avoid punches and has a chopping left hand, thrown frm the hip, that has to be seen to be believed.
I have never seen anyone use such personalized techniques and style in the ring. Someone told me recently though that he was washed up and had retired from boxing.

I gotta go with Gene's list and only add these:
James Braddock. The man overcame insurmountable odds and was the epitome of the word perserverance.
Jack Johnson. This man lived his way and was an incredible fighter! I like that he gave the middle finger to the racial BS of his time and could not be broken.
Tommy Hearns. He is a local Michigander, born and raised in the tough streets of Detroit. He is a local legend and I remember watching his fights with my dad....which is a lot of the reason I picked him.
Evander Holyfield. His earlier fights are incredibly inspiring to watch. Man, they make me incredibly anxious to train.
......now, my single pick for favorite boxer is Muhamed Ali for the reasons Gene already said....plus he was all hands and heart.
Sugar Ray Robinson (or Walker Smith Jr.). Anyone who has 109 KO's and a 91 fight winning streak is pretty good.

So many great boxers, so little time.
1. CHAVEZ...
2. Bernard Hopkins, the most intelligent fighter since Ali.
3. Kostya Tzsyu for what he did to Zab Judah.
4. Marco Barerra for what he did to Prince Hamed Naseem.
5. Erik Morales for all of his great fights.
6. Marvin Hagler was a great boxer long before he was even on the map.
7. Roberto Duran for his hands of stone.
8. Rocky Marciano for his undeniable record, heart and granite chin.
9. Joe Louis. Need I say more?
10. Max Schmelling for beating Joe Louis in his prime.
11. Ali for all of his eloquent trash talking and ring generalship.
12. Archie Moore because he fought for 27 years and knocked out over 140 opponents. He fought about 40 fights after he was forty years old and knocked out most of them...Well after he retired he continued to help train fighters such as George Foreman and a young Casius Clay.
I love boxing.....

You've got it nailed, Gene. Perfect list. However, for class I'd add Commander Jack Dempsey, USCG. Even though he was past the age of enlistment, he volunteered and served in WW2 training GI's in physical education. IIRC, he served both stateside and in the Pacific.
