I was taking down the Xmas tree and half watching that new show Emily's Reasons Why Not when they started talking about BJJ as "the gayest sport ever". OK, I know it isn't but the bit was actually pretty funny.

Barry,
You'd be surprised.
I think this has been posted before, but just in case.

1. I am glad that he found something in his life which makes him happy.
2. I am sad that he has misunderstood entirely the martial meaning behind both Judo and BJJ, instead turning it into a temple of worship to his libido.
There are people who achieve the same amount of "satisfaction" by grinding themselves up against trees. I put this in the same category.
Oh, and someday he is going to indulge himself against someone who does not take kindly to his deviant pursuit, and that person will not allow him to tap out from a technique. Perhaps on that day the reality of his chosen hobby will insinuate itself into his understanding.

My daughter is an attorney and she recently had to defend a guy who was caught by the cops in a field screwing a pumpkin, yes, a pumpkin. All she could do was say he was drunk and plead him down to misdemeanor trespass.
Anyway, somehow the article reminded me of that. Anything between two consenting organisms, I guess.

yes, a pumpkin.
Ah, yes, but who among us doesn't enjoy a nice fresh pumpkin cream pie?
What?

It goes without saying that if Rasputin offers you dessert, the answer is "no".

Did he cut a hole in it or something?

The whole thing sounds bizarre. Can you see cops discussing that beat?
"Hey, listen, we gotta send a patrol down by the pumpkin patch."
"What, for pranksters?"
"Nah, gotta make sure nobody's getting it on with the produce."
"What, you mean if you catch somebody, you actually wanna go up and stop him?"

Cop to pervert,"Take both hands off the pumpkin sir."
Pervert to cop, "Yes sir."
Cop to pervert, "I said let go of the pumpkin!"
Pervert to cop, "I did."
Cop pukes.

Hell, I don't know. Maybe he has a cold rolled steel Yang. :D
I could have lived and died quite happy without reading this thread. The eroticising of judo techniques by anyone, hetero or homo inclined, is SICK. We once had a young teenage boy who decided to grab a feel of a young teenage girl he was fighting, it wasn't accidental. She slapped him silly. We then kept him out in randori until he could not stand. Then we told him, NEVER EVER AGAIN or it will be WORSE. He learned his lesson.
Peace

Ugh. You hate to hear about that kind of thing happening. I think I would have to argue for the immediate and permanent expulsion of anybody who deliberately does something like that.

I once had a new 20 something female student attempt a feel during training.
She looked very puzzled when she felt my cup.

I was at a Higaonna seminar in Orlando back in the 90's at the old Naval training center (some of you may have been there). On Friday night, we were practicing Sanchin kata, and Higaonna Sensei, without thinking, said, "Tops off!" A gym full of people, including several VERY attractive girls, took off their gi tops. The girls did not hesitate, blush, or make a deal about it. Not one guy, young or old, gawked, smirked, smiled, or stared. That said a lot to me about the seriousness of everyone there. One of Higaonna's seniors finally whispered to him, and he told the girls to put tops back on. Anyway, there is no place for sexual crap during training.
what did he mean when he said "tops off"?

He told everyone to take off their gi top so he could see the tension in their muscles during the kata. Sanchin is often done "bare back."

Otherwise, welcome to the new frontier. Welcome to the sexual revolution. Say ‘hello’ to Brazilian jiu-jitsu, the sport that likes to get up close and personal.
what narcisism. imposing your sexuality on anyone is sexual assault regardless of gender or circumstances. this kind of wantonly, aggressively outspoken "im queer im here so get used to it" attitude contributes to homophobia. im sure this fetishist got a lot out of the criticism and rancour he recieved for this article. Probably made him feel like a martyr.
In BJJ and judo we do get into some weird porno positions ( i remember neil adams joking about it in one of his instructional manuals) ... for this weird social circumstaceyou need two strong senses:
1. sense of professionalism
2. sense of humour
sexuality and politics have no place in training... sexual politics have no place anywhere- because they are sooooooo boring!

I read that article, and personally, do not believe it was written in any sort of serious manner, it seemed highly sarcastic. I just don't buy it as any sort of serious article. I thought it was good satire.
However, you all are right, there is no room for sexual play in the martial arts. Anyone who would actually do something like that is warped, and should be reported to the police.

Maybe the guy was a card-carrying member of NAMPLA; I don't think a pumpkin is capable of giving informed consent.

Well, the Greeks and Romans practiced bisexuality. They had "Grope-a-Greek" and "Romp-a-Roman" parties. :D
The Emperor Caligula said,
"Get this pretty girl out of my bed.
And bring me a man
And I'll pop his can
And then we can cut off his head!"
I've been on other sites where training with the opposite sex was discussed; especially rolling with girls. A lot of guys are very leery about it because they don't want an accidental grab to get mistaken for a feel. But I've always had this view toward training with women/girls.
I will spar, roll, etc... with you the same as if you were a guy.
If I have to grab the seat of your gi pants in order to gain better postition or escape a bad one, i will.
Same for up top. If I have to push/grab your upper body, i'll try for your shoulders or lapel. If I have to push off on your chest, sorry. it ain't personal.
I've trained with women for many years and as far as I've known, I've never had a women take anything during training as sexual misconduct.

Speaking of gay combat sports, I just saw that George Takei confessed to being homosexual. I'll never be able to watch his Fencing Scenes again in Star Trek the same way. George "The Gay Blade" Takei.

Alright everyone, I think we can end this thread since it is becoming increasing juvenile and unsuitable for other than an adult audience.
