Hi, I am an avid practitioner of Kyokushin Karate and Aikido. But I also want to learn Jujuitsu. I wonder if anyone here who knows any authentic school of Jujuitsu in Cavite, Philippines or nearby town/city where I can train. Please let me know. Thanks.

Hi Ruben, welcome to Budoseek.
There are a couple of members here that may be able to help you out.
Robert (Webmaster) may also be able to help since he spent a considerable time in the Philippines.

Hi Tony.
Thanks for the information. I sure appreciate any information on jiujitsu schools here in the Philippines. I may also be able to offer the art to the gym where I practice Kyokushin Karate. I just hope Robert may also be able to read my messages here. In case not, how should I contact him? Thanks again.

Hi Ruben:

Welcome to BudoSeek! I really wish I could be of more assistance, however I am not familiar with any Jujutsu dojo in the Philippines. I do know that there are Brazillian Jujutsu practitioners in the Manila area, and Aikido is pretty widespread, however, Japanese Jujutsu is a different story. What style of Aikido do you practice? If it is not Yoshinkan, then that might be an option. It is a hard style of Aikido and has some similar characteristics. Also Shudokan (Tomiki) Aikido has a lot in common with Jujutsu as well. Also, if you can find a more traditionally oriented Judo dojo (one that does not over emphasize shiai), then it is likely you will be exposed to the Kodokan Goshin Jutsu which is basically Jujutsu in nature.

Anyway, I wish I could be of further assistance and if I do come up with something for you, I will let you know.

I"m not sure if this is near you but check out:
http://ktadventure.com/budo.htm

My jiu-jitsu teacher regards Daniel Faynot, the head instructor, as one of the best martial art teachers that he has come across. I'm not sure if he still runs the place since the last thing I heard was that he was off to China to study more martial arts.
Definately worth checking out.
Lineage: Daniel Faynot -> Roland Hernaez -> Minoru Mochizuki -> both Kano and Ueshiba

Thanks guys for all the information. And sorry as well for the late reply. It's only now that I was able to log on to this site. Well, Robert was right, there are a lot of Brazillian Jujutsu practitioners in the Manila area but I'm a bit cautious in joining any of the team there since most of them are holding training in some highly commercial gym. I'm afraid I might join a non-authentic group doing a more relaxed training. I would like to have serious jujutsu training in an real jujutsu dojo with an authentic sensei. My sensei in Kyokushin also teaches Aikido, Aikikai style (that's my style too). But since he also trained in Japan for Kyokushin, I think he was able to get some techniques from Yoshinkan Aikido. Then again, I still would like to learn Japanese Jujutsu. I guess in the absence of any jujutsu school near my place, I will just continue my study of Aikikai Aikido with my sensei.
Thanks again for all the info. In case you come up with something please let me know. I hope to catch you here again... OSU!

Hi Dennis,
Thanks for info. I tried the website you mentioned. It's quite far from my place but I think I can consider dropping by on week days after office (I work in Manila but lives in southern province just outside the gates of Manila). Osu!
