This situation has turned about on Sylvia, making him apear to be the villan. I disagree with that as Lebanner cast the initial stone by causing all this mess in the first place. In Sylvia's response, he took a stab at Lebanner's French nationality in an immature way...but man, if you're gonna trash talk somebody with no provocation, what the hell would one expect???

I hope Sylvia STOMPS that little dweeb, Lebanner!!!

Syliva has an upcoming match with Arlovski for the title, so LeBanner will have to wait. Why did LeBanner call him out anyway?

...Why did LeBanner call him out anyway?

Got me. Sylvia was noted as wondering why Lebanner is calling out the number 2 HW in the UFC and not #1, Arlovski. I have heard that it is due to Lebanner not being satisfied with his ground fighting abilities, which he is working on. It's all over the Sherdog forums...if you want to call there forums "forums".

First of all, I think it's really weird that Sylvia was like, "I've never heard of this guy." He's a k-1 fighter, but most steady MMA fans know who he is. I find it hard to believe that a ranked professional fighter has never heard of him. I don't know if he was talking trash or what. And, he brings up a good point. Why do call out the number two guy (in the UFC, at least) to fight. Unless he has a personal beef with Sylvia (and considering Sylvia claims to not even know who he is, that sounds remote) that doesn't make any sense. You either enter the UFC like everyone else and claim that you are the next big thing, or you call out the number one guy because he's the best. Quite frankly, I think he's in over his head. Unless he's got Chuck/Mirko grade ground defense, most kickboxers have a rude awakening in MMA.

Perhaps Sylvia doesn't follow K1 or kickboxing in general. But then again as a pro fighter, you'd think he'd know who he was. Plus isn't K1 owned by DSE who also owns Pride? Could this be them trying to get over on Zuffa and the UFC?

You would think as many members as Sherdog has you would have better informed/trained/MA educated etc... people, but mostly what you get are teenagers with little to no training acting like they're the all knowing one. I still go there every once in a while, but leave before it gets too deep.

I've been visiting the Sherdog forums for about three years, and I have four posts there. It's just way too hostile of an environment. There's a lot of great info, their news coverage of MMA is the best on the web (in my opinion), and there are actually quite a few posters who really know what they are talking about. But, you do have to wade through quite a few keyboard warriors.

That's why I rarely go there anymore. I agree, the MMA coverage is great though. There's too few members that know what they're talking about to get me to stay. The grappling section seems to have the best regular posts. I tried the striking section, but 99% of them have no idea what they are talking about. Especially when it comes to hand conditioning. I actually found Budoseek after getting frustrated with the lack of intelligent coverstation at Sherdog. I mainly go there now to use the Fight Finder or check the news.

That pretty much sums it up my story too. ;)

It's starting to look like the Sylvia/Lebanner is not going to come to fruition. :(

A good read from MMA Weekly (http://www.mmaweekly.com/absolutenm/templates/dailynews.asp?articleid=1575&zoneid=13) about Brandon Vera....but halfway through it Vera states that there is a rumor of K-1 and UFC working together, citing some interesting reasons, as well as mentioning the Sylvia/Lebanner issue. It is a good read.

Slyvia is going to get stomped. He's a dirtbag, I can't wait to see Le Banner KHTFO!

Le Banner called out Slyvia is a respectful manner. He was sick of hearing that Slyvia was a world class striker. Then Slyvia responds by acting like a immature, moron. Now he dug himself into his own grave. Le Banner will destroy him.

Man. Did not expect to see that here. I agree with you though, the grappling section has the highest percentage of good stuff to garbage. I haven't spent much time in the striking forum, but the MMA is okay.

Actually, someone recently brought up a really good point pertaining to this topic. UFC is unlikely to let someone from outside the organization just step in and take on one of their top fighters. The risk is too great that he might lose, and the other guy just gets to walk away with a payday. And, this is not limited to the UFC. I think Pride would be equally unwilling to just let Liddell come in and have a unification bout with Silva, for the same reason. If they were going to have an outside fighter some in, the "host" organization would want it to be a multi-fight deal in the hopes to "steal" the fighter from his current organization. This way, even if the outsider beats the current champ, he can't just walk away with the belt, he's got to stay with the organization a little longer, helping promote said organization after what could be an embarassing loss.

The only way I can see a UFC fighter fighting a Pride fighter is like Chuck and Yves did and that's in a Pride tournament. I don't think we'll see a Pride fighter in the Octagon for a while. Pride controls their product too tightly.

I probably shouldn't have said it. We were talking about why we left Sherdog and he posted a Sherdog type reply. "Rickson by armbar" was the first thing that came to mind. I feel kinda guilty now. :o

SFTU newb white belt!!! Pwned1111

Sorry, thought I was on a different forum.

Also, I agree, I think the only inter-organization bouts we'll see are if UFC fighters are allowed to fight in a Pride tourney. There's an open weight tournament coming up, maybe we'll get to see Liddell or Arlovski in that.

Waaaaaassterlaaaaand!

That would be interesting to see them in the open weight gp. Matt Hughes would be as well as Rich Franklin too.

The problem with the open weight gp is that no one aside from heavy weights and light heavyweights really stand a chance. If you take the best WW in the world, like Hughes, Penn, and Henderson and throw them in against Cro Cop, Nogueira, and Fedor, they're all going to get destroyed. At that level of competition, a weight difference of over 30 pounds is just way too much to over come.

I was commenting on how he's called out the #2 guy in the UFC. There was no provovation for this...hence the name.

He is a great kickboxer, but come on...if you're gonna call out a guy and try to make a mess of his name, at least call out the big dog.

Are you daft?

He said he doesn't need to called out Arlovski, he wants Slyvia cause he talks trash and wants to shut him up.

Le Banner could beat Arlovski anyway.

Are you nuts? Arlovski would destroy him. JLB is a feared striker, no doubt, but it's crazy to think that a more or less pure kickboxer can enter the MMA scene and take out the champ out of nowhere. The guy's 2-1-1 in MMA; let's not get carried away here.
