Sup yall, I am entering a poetry contest, and I wanted to give the poem I am entering a trial run here, to see if it cuts the mustard so to speak.
The Cold Angels Heart
She sat there wondering
Where did I go wrong
Why do I deserve this
To suffer this long
She wans't always this sad
She used to be happy
And her halo glowed
Her smile always laughing
Yet in the background
This storm kept brewing
Growing colder everyday
Untill all she had was leaving
Her heart began to freeze
With the pain growing walls of stone
They just kept getting thicker
When she decided she'd be better off alone
But what she couldnt see
Is this man satnding just outside of the storm
Wanting to bring the sun back to her
For her to feel it again be warm
But her heart was frozen
Locked in a black place in time
And no matter how hard he tried
He couldn't make everything fine
So he patiently waited
Letting the storm blow over
Hoping she would see his face
Not that of another
As the lightening flashed
Her saw her pain
And his eyes filled with tears
When he saw her heart and it's stain
He couldn't understand
What made this angel's heart so cold
And in that moment he swore he never would
He would never cause a pain that old
Then he spoke to her
For broken hearts
And for the fallen tears
Time cannot always heal
The pain built of years
But I can help
If only you let me in
I know I'm not perfect
But I at least know where to begin
Where do I begin she asked
He looked her in the eye
You could start with a smile
And she took his advice
See, he said, it's been a while
She nodded her head
I can't make this storm go away
But if you let me
I'll weather it with you if you let me stay
She didn't answer his question
And he didn't know what else to say
So there he stood
In the middle of the storm
Wanting to make the sunrise
So that she would be warm
And he could melt the ice
And tear down the walls of her heart
The walls of this cold angels heart.
