so little time.

As this site and its members here have been great resources for books and publication, I have compiled a lits of books I wish to read and add to my collection.
As it stands now my list is comprised of 23 books.

Mmm...I wonder if they're tax deductible.

What titles are at the top of your list?

What titles are at the top of your list?
They are not in any specific order of importance.
I write them down as I hear about the title and subject.

As I'm looking at the list right now, I've noticed that I saw one in Barnes & Noble yesterday and didn't pick it up.
Gotta go back.

Here is another one to add to your list..

I really enjoyed it.

Thanks.
While it does peak my interest. I failed to specify that my list consists of only MA related subjects.

Also with work, family, and training schedule I'm not reading what I do have as quickly as I used to.
Also because any free time I have I'm spending it here.

See you guys are a bad influence. :)

Being an avid reader myself and also I love to watch Training DVD, video's, etc. My list just keeps growing and growing. Barnes and Noble, Border's, etc, they love me and see dollar signs every time I walk in the door. My latest aquisition was "The Essential Guard" by Kid Peligro and Rodrigo Medeiros. Good book but not on par with my favorite Brazilian Jiujitsu book :
Brazilian Jiujitsu Theory and Technique by Renzo and Royler Gracie.

Brian, both books are great. I loved "The Essential Guard" just because of how detailed and specific it is. "Theory and Technique" is by far my favorite though. I read through it at least once a week and find helpful information.

Wow!
Glad to see you list the book by Mark Bishop. I just picked it up at Borders on an impulse a couple of days ago, and hadn't really started it yet, but I was a bit skeptical of any MA book with the word "secret" anywhere on the cover.
I'm actually reading "Zen And The Japanese Culture" right now. Happened upon it as a used book for $5. Glad you liked it, too

Actually it's a very good book.
You'll understand the "secret" part when you read it.
It's also in my top ten, as also my karate sensei is listed.

Have you checked out Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu: Submission Grappling by Royler Gracie? Awesome book. It's all no-gi stuff.

Yeah Shawn, that is in my collection also. I ordered that book right after my first no-gi class! That is how bad I needed help with that part of my ground game.

Tony, in my other life I am a CPA. Based on looking at your occupation, I would say that reading those books appear to be business related; I'd have no problem putting them on your tax return!

Can I claim my dog as a dependent? He lives inside, has lived here for 7 years, can sit, lie down, and sleeps on his own bed in his own room. I am completely responsible for his care, medical bills, and other expenses. :)

So, you are telling me you pay for over 50% of his support? Did you ask him if he's already filed his return?

Yes, I am paying for over 50% of his support...he has not filed his return, but he has chewed the edge a little bit. His only assets are some bones he has buried in the yard and some stuffed animal toys. Oh, wait, he does stash Milk Bones behind the sofa cushions. I did apply for a Hope grant for his education in obedience school, but they have never replied. I guess it is just the bureaucracy.

Man, walking into Barnes & Noble can be dangerous.
I went there today and spent over $100.00 and not all MA related. And only one off my list. Ouch!

MA
Ju No Kata
Mind over Muscle by Jigoro Kano

Non Fiction
On Killing by Lt. Col. Dave Grossman
The Dominican People, A Documetary History

Fiction
Dark Watch by Clive Cussler

It appears to a first publicztion as it's a first edition Copyrighted and translated in 2005.

Actually I just did a search. It's newly published.

Yeah, same here. Lt. Col. Grossman also has another book out called On Combat . Unfortunately Barnes & Noble doesn't carry it, so I just ordered it form Amazon.
I order so much from them that I have an account.

Is anyone into older MA books? I try to grab these when they become available, examples such as Kawaishi's judo book, or the various books by EJ Harrison. I recently got an original edition of Fighting Spirit of Japan from 1914. There's a picture of Maeda in it for you BJJ fans :wink2:

Brian R. VanCise

Yes, I am into older book's as well! Every once in awhile I just
hit old used book stores looking for some book's not in my collection.
Every so often I hit the gold mine! : )

Tony, I am with you they great me by first name at Barne's and Noble and
Border's. (It is scary)

Tony,

You listed Martial Arts and Ways of Japan by Donn Draeger. Do you have any idea where a reasonably-priced Classical Bujutsu (paperback) can be found?

Tony,

You listed Martial Arts and Ways of Japan by Donn Draeger. Do you have any idea where a reasonably-priced Classical Bujutsu (paperback) can be found?
I found them here (http://www.amazon.com/gp/search/ref=br_ss_hs/104-6563792-0925560?search-alias=aps&keywords=Martial%20Arts%20and%20Ways%20of%20Japan)
Whether they're reasonable, I guess that would depend on you.
