hey everyone,
so i was being careless and i got salt water on my katana (don't ask me how it was a stupid accident), and though i immediately tried to clean it off, it stained my blade. i was wondering if any of you know how to get these stains off or if it is even possible! thanks a bunch for your help.

Try some Noxon metal polish (http://www.jensco.com/thekitchendrawer/cleaning_utility/metal_cleaners/metalcleaners117.html) or Flitz (http://www.flitz.com/index.html), provided it isn't an antique blade. Use it very gently while paying close attention just until the spot is gone. Clean it all off prior to applying choji. I hope that the stain did not get on the hamon..I'd be a bit leery of using metal polish there.

Have you tried a little uchiko and rice paper?

If it still has not come off. Use some Metal-Glo, but use it carefully.
Good Luck

Try some PEEK steel polish. I use on my blades whenever i have any cleaning problems.
Most Metal Polishes from auto stores work well. Just be careful polishing.
