Anyone else get the impression that Ken may be in dire need of clinical and pharmacuetical mental help? Maybe a few sandwiches shy of a full picnic basket? First, he really did his team no justice in the TUF 3 season and is still obsessed with an incident that is now 7+ years old. The man claims to be the first heavyweight champ...I remember him as a "Superfight Champ", but not a Heavyweight champ (Maybe I am mistaken). He goes on about how he "made" Tito....whatever that means...Made Tito's knuckles, elbows, and knees hurt from over exposure to his face????
I don't know. Just the way he came off in the show alone made me really lose a lot of respect for the guy. I saw him as selfish, and let alone seeing him FAAAAR from being a "Legendary Coach". What did you guys think?

Definite case for "dain bramage".
I liked the part where he punked Tito out on the pool table. As for the rest, I agree with you!

Seems to me like he's over-compensating with anger, due to the realization that he's basically, a has been. Tito doesn't really help matters by being such a smartass.

Tito made a comment about he is going to end up with both of those cars.
Wonder if he will try to make some side bet.
Id like to think that shamrock is just playing the role as a publicity stunt to make the fight happen.
However.... I think he is really is that stupid. That "fighter's confidence" can go to far and hang around long after its useful.

I believe Tito beating Ken did make Tito a household name with MMA fans. Like Royce, the people that watched the early UFC's knew who Ken was and Tito beating him made Ken the first "UFC Legend" to fall. I think it skyrocketed Tito's popularity with the fans. After this win, (if memory serves) Tito's head really got big(no pun intended) and eventually led to his falling out with the UFC.
Tito and Shamrock are both clowns. Chuck Liddell is the man!

^^^There ya go!
I don't really care for Shamrock or Ortiz...
Shamrock may not be as stupid as he is foolish. HE seems to have it together enough to manipulate people for short term personal gain. Tito may have had his problems with UFC, et al, but I am beginning to wonder if he really is just brilliant. He took the chance to show that he can develop fighters. Goodness knows Josh would have been back bouncing strip bars after week one under anyone else.
Tito is growing as a person, Shamrock is not.
BTW, I think the only reason Tito wanted the black car is because Shamrock said he wanted it first. Shamrock is too easy.

Tito has been around since UFC 13, as a fill in. He used to spar with Tank, untill he/they realized Tito was better. I remember being a fan of his for the fact that he did the early fights as an ametuer so he could still wrestle in college. UFC 40 I think made him more popular as the face of the UFC, but he was a favorite for some time prior to the Lions Den beef. Tito made Tito, Ken was just a step in the stairs. Look at him now...he can wear his Punishment apparell on camera now, got his money he wanted, and more GOOD exposure than anyone could have guessed. Richard has it right....Tito is a genius for self promotion.

Shamrock says he is all about his pride.
I wonder where his pride will be when its all said and done. If he gets clobbered he is just going to look foolish.

I am willing to bet Ken is probably a nice guy in person. Same goes for Tito. They both just have the same personality flaws as everybody else..Ken can not let his anger go and Tito is pretty cocky. It's most likely amplified when the cameras are on. I just hope this feud does not set a trend in the UFC because I much prefer see a sense of comradery between the fighters.

^^^I agree. Chuck Liddell and Randy Coutre are perfect examples.

Yup and yup to Charles and Howard ...but.... you know where the money is.
Grudge matches and drama.
If Tito is really money minded he should lose. Because the NEXT time they fight would be an even bigger grudge match.

Jeff,
I know you are not insinuating that professional athletes would be motivated by anything other than the desire of honorable competition are you?

Yes! I am so convinced of this that I will have money against Tito for precisely this reason. I will be very surprised if Tito wins only because they won't be capitalizing on this "rivalry" that took so much time and effort to sell.

I think Tito has come a Looong way from the cocky jerk he was a few years back...maybe it was the "spanking" from Randy...
He was shown to do a pretty good job being cool on the show while Ken looked like an total idiot/a-ho-l...but maybe Dana likes him more.
He definitely earned respect by coaching a team that beat all of Shamrock's guys in the end.
I would like to see Ken get the poop knocked out of him...I don't care who does it but since Tito was sporting the Chanel sunglasses, he's my fave!

He looks like he's had his head spun around by a Chuck Norris Round House Kick (R).

I got the distinct impression that Dana has done a turnaround on Tito and maybe developed a different impression of Ken. He made the statements on the last episode about both of them and realized what Tito had done. He gave them world class coaching, he really cared about the whether the guys were successful, gave them a contagious competitive attitude, and this all tied into great motivation. Ken caused strife, hate, discontent, and generally bad coaching. Dana also made sure that Tito was heavily involved in the finale of TUF 3, commentating and everything. He was also visible at the Hughes/Gracie fight. I think Dana has realized the potential Tito brings to his organization and is utilizing it. Tito is a star, and I think the series proved how much talent and dedication the man has.

I think Ken Shamrock is living in the same fantasy world as Mark Coleman and the rest of the guys at Hammerhouse. He has just completely failed to change with the times. I think he was ahead of the curve back in '93 and he did absolutely nothing to improve his game. He's still basically the same fighter only older and more beat up. I feel bad for all of the fighters on his team. I think there were some really good fighters who got shafted just because Shamrock didn't know how to train them properly.

Shamrock should have retired from NHB when he left for the WWE, he made the UFC and fighting personal with Tito and thats the worst thing you can do! 'holding grudges' he now has the 'I cant let go' syndrome that alot of fighters get and they end up with brain damage or worse! they keep coming back for more and more! its sad to see but it happens alot! there comes a time to hang up the gloves! just like 'Mickey' said in Rocky 3 'You dont have it anymore kid!' and Shamrock dos'nt have it anymore.. its reality!
