Very cool.
I've seen some of those clips before but now that they are slowed down I can really see some of the subtilty of the movements and the kazushi.
I wonder what the deal is with pushing the chair around on the mat?

Great Stuff on this link. I loved the Goshinjutsu by Mifune and his leg locks also.
Thanks for the heads up :D

I like this! For anyone who doesn't know, this uses out-takes from the classic documentary on Mifune sensei (which still stands the test of time today).

I could watch Mifune all day. The man was a god. I see his judo, and I wish my aikido could look like that.
Best,
Ron

You'd look kinda silly doing judo in your aikido class, don't ya think? :wink2:

;) perhaps, but I'd look good!
Seriously though, I think good martial art stands out, even if from a different tradition. And when it comes to throwing arts, Mifune had the kind of waza that I think anyone could emulate...the timing, the entry, his relaxed flow, his effortless power, the way he adjusts to his opponant...all of these are extremely impressive. All of these can be used in aikido waza, as well as judo waza. It's not so much about the actual technique used, but more the way certain physical principles are embodied in the waza that catches my eye. That is what I mean by wishing my aikido looked like his judo.
But hey...if that's too deep for some, hakuna matata here... ;)
Best,
Ron
I believe Kano once remarked while watching Ueshiba that Aikido was "Dream Judo."
One of my wishes would be to randori Mifune - I could learn alot falling down repeatedly.
Peace
Dennis

Yeah. What he said.
hakuna matata
Whatata is thatata?
...One of my wishes would be to randori Mifune - I could learn alot falling down repeatedly...If that was true I'd be a freakin' genius.

Really cool video. What was that guy doing with the chair in that one clip though?

Seems like the chair thing was a ashiwaza drill.
