A very good question. Jiulong Bagua is different in that compared to other styles of Baguazhang we emphasize training much more concepts than route memorization of forms or palm changes.

Rather than learn responses to specific attacks, we train do deal with change at all times.

We deal with a tremendous amount of standing meditation, visualization training as well as Wai Gong(external) training to strengthen the whole body.

Whole body power cannot be generated well by people who only train meditation or by people who only train the external.
There needs to be a marriage of the two.

So instead of memorizing a set routine of numbers of techniques it would be like sensativity or feeling a certain positioning and reacting or adapting into a move from position and feeling? Don't know if I totally butchered what I was thinking.....

You are on the right track. We learn various concepts and at the higher levels they will appear. Never the same reaction to same attack twice.
