That's how I see myself, average, nothing special. And as I observe the events unfold in the news, I shake my head and say they just don't understand. The terrorist (in this case the minority of Islam) want to I guess terrorize us into submission. They threaten to kill us, our spouses and children if we do not submit. I'm old enough to remember the Cuban Missle Crisis, the end was near. Communism was going to conquer the world. It failed. Remember the movie Red Dawn, a good pic, and a bit of fantasy, but also a pretty close depiction as to what might occur.

Remember 9/11. Sure you do. I work maybe 45 minutes from Shenksville where the plane went down. We were watching the news and saw the towers burn. Then things got crazy. I got a call, all staff on standby, noone may leave. Route 22 runs past work. We watched about 45 police cars fly by at about 75 mph. Then the rumors said a plane of terrorists had landed at the local airport. What happened next was interesting. Most of the guys at work and many of the women are deer hunters and shooting sport fans. A plane of terrorist, should we run, yep, run home, get my gun and go find the SONOFABITCHES. This actually happened, I saw it, I heard it.

When someone threatens my life, my family, my country, I don't cower in fear. I may be afraid, I may be scared SHI$$LESS. But I will do what needs to be done, and there are literally millions of average people just like me.

Peace (I HOPE)

Dennis

I agree with what you've written. Such a rational, proactive approach is absolutely essential in terrible crises.

Over here, we are dealing with an oil spill that has endangered the livelihood of so many poor fisherfolk. Hopefully, many Filipinos will also take the same attitude and back it up with action.

God Bless you and your nation.

You speak for many of us, Dennis.
