Had my first one today. First match was against a orange belt from my club, it lasted about a minute before I was ipponed. Second match was against somebody else I avoided the judo tie up for the most part and used shots to try and bring the match to the ground. I was moving around well down there but I didn't know very many submissions so we were stood up twice. Then he ipponed me at I think three minutes in.
Edit: I got a silver medal but I placed 3rd out of four. The guy who got fourth gave up after his first match.
That is cool, Andrew! If you apply the same discipline you used in your TKD and wrestling, I am sure you will be getting gold in a short period of time.

Excellent! I heard the Texas A&M team made it - mode competition than I was expecting. I was at a JJ clinic, otherwise, i'd have been there. Will you be back in Jackson for the tournament on the 11th?

I think we are going to a tournament in Texas at that time. The Texas A&M team was there but really it was a very small crowd.

Good job Andrew!
Judo tournaments tend to be on the small side compared to other sports.
