I have a fonds for Yakisoba and chicken rice bowls.

Spider roll. Not exactly authentic, but I like it any way.
Fresh albacore sushi with mizore sake.
RAMEN!!!
The real stuff, not the dry stuff in packages.
Char shiu, Miso, Gomoku or Mabo ramen. I'll take it all!

My only experience with Japanese food is at a local chain restaurant called Tokyo's. I have only been there three times and sat at the grill each time. I really liked the food though, fried rice, steak, and a veggie combo of onions, zuchinni, and mushrooms. Plus a really good green onion based soup. So I don't know if that is actual Japanese food or just some Americanized thing.
I have ate a couple of warehouses full of Chinese food though.

Salmon sashimi... oooh man. I also like my green tea icecream.

Tonkatsu with okonomiaki and chuka soba. Good eatin', far more filling than what most people expect from Japanese food. Kind of the Japanese answer to soul food, in a way.
I love sushi too, my current favorite is albacore with ponzu sauce.

Fillet Mingon!!!
Not quite familiar with that one.
"Tastes like chicken" (. . . er, tori)
Haven't had Kobe beef, but most people I know who have say it deserves its reputation.
Hamachi sashimi. Yum.
Stuff I miss and can't find in the US: unagi donburi and okonomiyaki.

MOCHI !!!!! Breakfast ! Lunch ! Dinner ! Midnight Snack ! Pre-Midnight Snacks , Post Midnight Snacks ! Truly the food for the gods !!!:D :D :D
This is a qoute from Wikipedia:
Mochi is very sticky and somewhat tricky to eat. After each new year, it is reported in the Japanese media how many people die from choking on mochi.
All I can say hey ! At least I died HAPPY !!!!!!

HAKONE - The best Sushi Place that exist !
Asahi beer.
Aye!
Good stuff!
But Chu-hi (apple and ume) is good too.
But my favourite: ume sour or ume on the rock ;)
Food: curry rice with chicken (kawasaki station, the best curry!) and ramen. Yaki Niku is nice too ;)
Salmon sashimi or strips of sweet Albacore Tuna. Yummmmmm!
Edit: My son caught his first Tuna last summer - it was a long fin Albacore. Not a typical catch in these parts and I have to say, it was a real treat.

If you are ever around Stanford University, accross the street is a Town &
Country shopping center. In the back is a place called "The Sushi House".
It is run by two friends of mine. Best sushi on the pennisula. One of the
owners is Nagamine Dai Sensei's nephew. He taught me everything I know
about sushi. You could say he was my "Sushi Sensei".

There's a place here in town called SobaTen [Heavenly buckwheat noodles] that serves chicken and soba in a curry broth that is just great. They make their own fresh soba, so it's extra specially good. [Actually what they serve as soba is a mix of wheat and buckwheat, but if you call ahead, they'll make noodles out of 100% buckwheat...YUM!!!]
Sushi! Age dashi tofu. Chicken teriyaki--always a classic. :p
And I love the grilled items in restaurants where the chef actually cooks it in front of you! I once had this chef toss an egg in the air and catch it on the edge of his spatula to crack it open. Lots of fun to watch! :karate:
Has anyone tried wasabi ice cream? I had it once and it just had a really interesting taste. It was cool and creamy, then you taste the heat of the wasabi at the end of each bite. :D
