Watch narcelios CAPOEIRA (http://www.capoeirascience.com/clips.html) showreel video and see just exactly what it means to be a capoeirista at his level. The speed of his kicks, his acrobatics, fluidity and control as he flows from one movement to the next put him head and shoulders over the majority.
That’s why I spent 2 days traveling straight through to get to him, three days filming in the dangerous neighborhoods he calls home and seven days editing this video.
I know capoeira is not every one's favorite martial art here but I'm sure if you watch this you will capture as I did some of the essence of what it means to have only one thing in your life and dedicate yourself completely to it amidst the poverty of Brazil’s slums.
Enjoy!! From Narcelio and Cientista

Some very cool vids there. Thanks for the post. My fiance' teaches Caopeira so I will definately be passing those on to her.
Andy, those are some fantastic videos! Thanks! Capoeira is my most favorite martial art that I have never practiced. I wish I was young enough (and had the time) to study it also.

no...he means EADIE my surname! yep i tidied the site up, translated it into portuguese so the people whom featured on it could understand what the the hell i was saying about them and i got various friends to do more translations... japanese and spanish are about to go up. the games section nicely balances out all the adrenalised acrobatics and gives a rounder picture of capoeira, i hope! which brings me to the point that..
youre never too old to learn capoeira! i'll never do what narcelio does and many mestres wouldnt dream of it either. he's just one manifestation in a sea of possibilities, neither right nor wrong. just good to watch thats all.. REALLY good to watch.
nice guy too.
Geez, now we are supposed to call you Gordo????
Andy, the closest I get to Cap. right now is rolling with the local maestre; I train in BJJ at the Capoeira school here in Sarasota. Maestre Ronnie is also a blue belt in BJJ. Needless to say, his cartwheel passes are phenomenal!
I greatly enjoy watching his classes, and I respect the athleticism and discipline, and the beauty of the movement and rhythm.

I can only imagine! That's an interesting crossover. The arts seem so diametrically opposed, that's an interesting combination of disciplines.

there have been a lot of capoeiristas in history who have done crossover, it was a big thing in Rio earlier last century. in my experience capoeiristas who are into fighting are fully aware of its shortcomings so they practice jiu-jitsu and boxing at least. then they fight in the ring but really you wont see them throwing a lot of big circular capoeira kicks, the fact that capoeira kicks are so telegraphed makes them great for the game of capoera but terrible against an experienced fighter..
Abada capoeira school teaches jiu-jitsu style ground grappling, they are also generally HUGE pumped up guys. its definitely not my style but its very very popular in Rio.
