All,

I am interested in finding a weekend or week long seminar/immersion course/retreat to supplement my current training. I am open to any type of discipline (taichi, kungfu, general martial arts, etc..) even though I am currently studing Chinese Kempo. I would ultimately want to go overseas and train, but with family and career it is nearly impossible. So if anyone has been to one, info/reccomendation, or even a good website please let me know.

Thanks,
MJ

I've recently been checking out Peter Ralston's stuff, and it seems like his work with principles of motion would be great insight to just about any art. He regularly does all sorts of intensives, from weekend seminars to his apprenticeship program. I'm hoping to catch a couple of the week-long intensives this year sometime, to supplement the work of his that I've read with training in person. You can find his stuff by googling Cheng Hsin, which is what he calls his practice.

This short cut is to another thread that may suit your fancy.http://www.budoseek.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=19569
I don't know where on the border is, but if you can make it? This is just a protracted day's event, but may meet your criteria for intense training.

Thats funny you mention Peter Ralston, because I just picked up his book Zen, Body Being. I explored his site and it was what spurred me to post this thread. His site was a litlle confusing in regards to exactly when the week long seminars are, but i am definetley interested in his stuff. Do you you know of anyone that has attended his seminars? I would be interested in hearing about him from this site.

Since I work on the Border and have to Patrol it, March 3rd is too early to arrange time off from family and work, but I appreciate the link. Hopefully in the future it might be something that could be possible. Thanks

His site has a list of when and where the seminars are. I haven't talked directly to anyone who's worked with him.

I put on an annual weekend training event with Southnarc and select instructors. Last year we had Paul Sharp of Straight Blast Gym/ISR Matrix fame, this year......? Probably be in October, roughly an hour outside Toronto.
Southnarc does seminars throughout the states, I would highly recccomend a session with him to help think outside the box.
