I'll just bet he began that introductory lecture telling students to turn of their phones. I'll bet he's been interrupted umpteen times. If the student complained, I hope the prof stood his ground.

I also hoped the administration backed him up on it.
On the same vein I've been dispatched to scenes and had people not hear the sirens nor see the lights thus failing to move over because their too busy yapping on the phone.
You don't know how many times I felt like pulling them over, walk up the car, just take their phone and smash it on the pavement, then walk back to my car and leave without saying a word.
