View Full Version : Hatton Vs. Mayweather
I heard they are fixing to reach a deal to fight in England. Can Hatton KO Mayweather?
Watched the Hatton fight the other night. Loved the Brit fans singing songs. "walking in a hatton wonderland....."

I'm pretty sure they'll make it in Las Vegas.
I don't think this is a good matchup for Hatton. His problem is basically that he puts TOO MUCH pressure on his opponents. Mayweather has no problems with ultra-pressure fighters, as witnessed in his victories over Jesus Chavez and Carlos Hernandez. To beat Mayweather you'd need the slow and steady pressure displayed by Jose Luis Castillo and Oscar de la Hoya against Mayweather. I should say slow and steady pressure with INTENSITY is what is required. Simply plodding along won't do the job. As far as that goes, I'd much rather favor Miguel Cotto. Mayweather has grown into a fairly strong welterweight, while Hatton had dismal results in his one foray into that division. Since strength is a large part of Hatton's game, this is another big hurdle for him.
I think that Hatton will eat uppercuts all night long, but that his hope in this fight is his awesome conditioning, tenacity and will to win. I don't expect Mayweather (who's conditioning is also stellar) to be slowed too much by Hatton's body-attack, though if anyone can do it, Hatton can.
Dadi, I haven't followed mayweather that much, has anyone ever really hurt him? Or has his evasion and defense been too good?

He's taken shots in certain fights (Emanuel Burton and early against Zab Judah), but has never really been hurt. He's almost impossible to hit with a clean hard shot. You'd have to be able to set a trap for him, an ability few fighters have today. Lennox Lewis, Pernell Whitaker, James Toney, Roy Jones Jr and Bernard Hopkins come to mind as fighters of the modern era (last 20 years) that could set traps like the greats did in the past.
