Hey everyone, much like the below thread I'm also going to be picking up Aikido in the next few weeks. I was introduced to this forum by Dark Mage from another forum, I'm not sure if he's got the same nickname in here or what though.
Anyway, I was advised to join this forum in order to help deal with questions and further advice on Aikido, I don't really have anything to say or ask at the moment as I haven't been down to the leisure centre to participate yet. I'm pretty nervous about jumping into a club (dojo?) at a basic level and I'm not exactly young neither (28).
Does anyone feel that an age-cap comes in to Martial Arts?
Bit of a silly question I know, but the one thing I'm nervous about is being made a fool of by a teenager or something. I know it's a kinda selfish thing to think nevermind say, but I'm very self-conscious and ill-disciplined (partially the reason I want to do this).
I hope to join Aikido and achieve things I never thought were possible. As I say the main part of the art would be discipline, especially. And I'm sick of being so self-concious all the time, whether this will be remedied through Aikido is another matter but I hope it will help me achieve an optimum way of thinking, rather than something to use against people.
Thank you for your time.
