I'm looking for aikido dojos near Woodbridge, Virginia or Washington DC area.
Any suggestions please?

I'd recommend looking into Mitsugi Saotome (aiki kai).

Not sure about where Woodbridge is, but when in the DC area training at Capital Aikikai - http://www.capitalaikikai.org/ was most fun. The dojo is headed by Sensei Clyde Takeguchi 7th Dan. The mix of Instructors there make the training very interesting and they are quite good at what they do. They are located in Silver Spring however (walking distance from the Silver Spring Metro Station), so I'm not sure how far away that is from you.

Dozo.

I'd guess that any dojo started by and frequently visited by Saotome would be good. Haven't been to the DC dojo for ages, but sure did some rockin' and rollin' there in the old days. I don't know when Saotome is actually there. He divides his time between the DC dojo and Sarasota, FL.

I'd second the Takeguchi recommendation, too. Took a seminar with him and enjoyed it immensely. Good guy.

I had the good fortune of practicing once in the Washington DC Shobukan when Saotome Sensei was in town. Highly recommended!

I'm here for a while Tony. Thank you for the warm welcome. This tropical island girl is still getting used to to cold...maybe a lot of Aikido will get me a lot warmer:o

When I was residing in Maryland for a few cold months Aikido training was the only thing that would get me out into the cold willingly. :)

When I arrived at the dojo I could not wait for warmups. :D

I was born and raised in the cold and I still hate. I was made for hot climates, so I understand perfectly.
Good luck.

Stella,

I know you stated your looking for Aikido, but I just thought I would throw the offer to you, that if your interested in Hapkido with more Japanese flavor, your more than welcome to train with us some time. I teach a small class in Falls Church. It is outside training, so it will be a little chilly, but I figured I would give you the invite. You can visit my website http://koreanmusulinstitute.com Feel free to contact me anytime. Take care.
