On top of that, Bram has been named the Father of Israeli Knife Combatives and was presented the award in Israel. Two very big feathers for Bram's humble cap.
Great! Congratulations!
What's with the gloves? I know very little about this art. Is that standard training equipment?

It's a knife training system, and as such it practices cutting.
The gloves aren't necessarily "standard" equipment, but are nice to have when you're training in a system that targets the hands. A metal trainer tapping your knuckles can be somewhat painful once or twice, but when you reach the hundrehth or two-hundredth tap of your partner's training blade it's downright excruciating. The gloves fall into the "nice to have" equipment category. Eye protection is a good idea during training too... just in case.
If you're interested in the system, Bram isn't too terribly far from you. He lives in the Tampa area.
Great! Thanks for the info Tim.

I had the great fortune of getting to work out for a couple of hours a few weeks ago with Bram on the beginnings of his modular knife stuff. It was a wonderful experience. Very nice guy and very, very knowledgable. Great teacher!:D
I've got a few pics and a short review of the weekend at:

Patrick,
I've been in FMA's and Kenpo for a few years now and I was very impressed with Bram's knife training approach. He makes the fundamentals very accessible and understandable to all levels. And, for those who train in FMA's regularly, there is still some eye opening moments when you 'turn it on its ear' so to speak. There are many knife applications and some knife specific training systems out there, but I think Bram has cracked the skin on a practical and realistic application of this tool.
