I tried creatine mono. for a while and I noticed some gains. However its effect on my GI tract made me dump it. I just picked up a bottle of Sci Fit Kre-Alkalyn 1500. It claims to have solved the GI problem, which I understand is common. Anybody with experience with this supplement? Effectiveness? Doses? Timing? etc?
As a side question, what is the general opinion on the NO2 stuff? Ive heard evertyhing from the "next great thing", to "total waste of money".It is pricy.

Do you dissolve the creatine in warm water. Your guts get messed up because the creatine is drawing in excess water.
Guys say if you use warm water it decreases the GI problems becease it is the undissolved particles that draw the excess water into the GI tract.
I mix all my powder drinks in hot water. Instant Tea, Crystal Light, Kool Aid etc..... It is the only way to dissolve the powder quickly.
The Creatine molecule, whether it is in its natural form or in monohydrate form, cannot transport across the cell membrane unless it is in the presence of water. No type of creatine is going to be effective without drawing in significant amounts of water with it. If you mix your creatine with a post-workout shake or smoothie and blend it thoroughly rather than hand mix it, you will have better results. In addition, taking it along with other caloric content will minimize any upset stomach situations you may be experiencing.

The stomach problems I've had with various brands of creatine went away all by themselves after the loading stage was over. Though it's only anecdotal, several folks I've lifted with said the same thing.
I used Pinnacle NoX2 for about 6 months in conjunction with Cell Tech and Nitro Tech, then dropped it from the regimen. I noticed no difference without it. I think most of the supplements on the market are a waste of money, and even if they do have some effect it seems pretty marginal for the bucks you're shelling out. The only benefit I've found for most (for me) is psychological..I'm pretty motivated to lift if I just ingested some crap that I forked over a lot of money for. :D:
Several supplements do work quite well while some others are a waste of money. Creatine is one that works well providing you are smart about how you take it. There is an excellent series of books on sport supplements by Dr. Jose' Antonio who is a big researcher in sport nutrition that examines supplements, whether or not they work, what possible side effects there are, and how to take them effectively. I highly recommend picking those up for anyone who is considering supplementation. The two books together (supplements for strength and power athletes, and supplements for endurance athletes) will cost you less combined then a large jug of creatine and a heck of alot less than NO2. As a matter of fact, they are some of the books I feel the most comfortable recommending to people and feel that people can get the most use out of. And that is saying something.

I shouldn't have posted that even though it was a joke.

fixed it for you...
Thanks for the book recommendations, Jason. I think I will be checking them out.
To date, the only thing that has had any effect on me is caffeine, vitamins, and creatine. Everything else just seems to give me really high-quality poop.
In spite of MMUSA's objections to GNC's "copycat" creatine syrup (stating that it is inferior, etc etc), I have found it to be the most effective, fastest-acting, easiest to take, and most affordable form of creatine. Just make DARN sure you shake it up EXTREMELY well before drawing it up into the dropper. Whenever I use creatine, that is the only product I will use now. The powders are messy and require mixing with something. I have had no intestinal issues with GNC Creatine Syrup, and it is extremely convenient - just shake it up and swallow four droppers-full of the stuff, drink some water, and go work out.

You're right though. :D
Seriously though, I'm glad to see there are good books on supplementation. It's hard to separate objective reports from some guy who probably got paid off to endorse a product sometimes.

The creatines I tried before were all "fruit punch" flavor styles. Were not very good as smoothie components. The stuff Im using now is in capsule form. So far, so good.
