I have 1, 2, 2.5, and 3. I can ALMOST close the 2.5 (maybe 3 mm apart) and I can get 3 about 1 cm from closing. I would send you the #1 and #2 but I always end up loaning them out to dojo mates. I got the #1 back after a month away and that week another guy borrowed it.
I can say that they are a great buy.

Heard enough good things about them to take the leap from cheap.

Well I just recieved the #2 and its tougher than I thought. I can almost close it so its a good challenge.

I bought some grip tape from the sporting goods store and put it on the knurled metal surface of the handles. It keeps them from ripping blisters on my delicate programmer fingers. Make sure you powder the tape after application or the adhesive will do even worse.
I like my #2. I can almost close the #2.5 now--it is about the width of a sheet of cardboard from closing.

Well seeing as you can close the #2 and I cant I wont make any tape = sissy comments.
When you are ready for the #3 let me know, Ill buy the #3 for you if you send me the #2.5.....and so on.

I have the #3. I can get it about 1 cm from closed. My goal is to get it closed by my birthday.
I have soft hands & feet. Anyone who looks at them knows at once that I live by dint of my brain and not my brawn. The rest of me kind of resembles a mountain man (one who wears gloves and shoes, however).

I feel better about not being able to close the #2 now.
I work part time at a gym (weight lifting gym) and brought it in today.
Lots of really big guys there and only one could close it.
It was the one guy I really wanted to see try it too, he does alot of old school exercises. I have seen him holding 2 45lbs plates pinched together.
He closed it as easy as he blinks his eyes.

I bring them to class with me. Out of the dozens who have tried, only one or two others have been able to close the #2.
That reminds me--time for another squeeze.

I ordered and just recieved this....

I also got the 2 inch heavy handled dumb bells at no extra price.
I had the Capt of Crush trainer, #1, #1.5 and #2 (I cant even close the 1.5:( )
Nice thing was I sold them for $20 each so it pretty much paid for all that I have now.

Thanks
To top it off I have now sold 1 of the heavy handed dumb bells (I wouldnt use 2 at a time anyway). So now I actually made a little upgrading my equipment, and I got a bag to throw it all in to boot.

Jeff, Have you recieved these grippers yet. If so, how do they compare to the COC grippers

I like them better. They are not as wide so I can reach them better.
The dumb bell thingies for the forearm ROCK !!!!
That 2 in diameter handle makes a big difference.
Oh and I changed my mind about selling my buddy one of the handles.
Besides what I thought they were for the end has a hole in it so I can use it for all my cable work at the gym.

I just noticed the duffle bag it comes with has a insulated (hot / cold) pocket.

(Just a quick follow up)
6 months into this and I really feel a difference in my grip and punching power.

Because I bought the heavy grips
I am working on the #3 COC gripper now. Dave, did you ever close that #3?
Jeff,
Where is your gripping strength at now, what is the rating of the heaviest gripper you can close? Just Curious.

I can close the #2.5 last time I checked, but I haven't tried the 3 in a while. Probably not. It is incredibly tight. It would help if I actually devoted some time to them instead of just depending on my normal workout routine to build grip strength.

Im working on the 250lbs (heavy grips runs a little different from COC), when I first started I could not close the 200lbs / #2.
I don't know how to measure what good grip strength is but I would say if you’re squeezing 150% of your body weight with one hand then you have to be doing something right. I have thought of massive grip strength as a great tool for deescalating a conflict. If you grab the bad guy (who is mad at you) and they feel everything south of your grip go numb and limp, then they usually won't want anything else to do with you! I wonder if there are any other Budoseekers who train their grip or hand strength, I am always up for learning a good lower arm exercise.

That would be good cause I weigh between 160-165 and thats over my fight weight (last fight 147).
I have felt some guys in China give some serious pain with just a grip.
What surprised me was how much it added to my punching power, that extra "denisty?" makes a difference.

Bumping this up, but check out an article I wrote on the subject of grip training, it might give you some ideas. There's also an older article one on my website with some other ideas.

Also, for grip strength, I like the Ivanko Super Gripper over the COC/Heavy grips because it's far more adjustable. But I have all three
