Heres a quick question, for years I have gone to the butcher and gotten spoiled or soiled pig and hog legs to practise bone breaking and skin ripping techniques because I was told the skin and bone closely resembled human. Does anyone know of a less graphic way to teach students?
Welcome to Budoseek. That's an interesting first question.
I don't know, but if you get a whole pig, you can practice eye pokes too. Then have a big BBQ. ;)
I had heard that the pig is close to the human in those regards. That's why they use pigs in some episodes of myth busters. Also, gruesome as it sounds, the 2007 edition of Cold Steel's demo DVD shows sword vs dead pig. Some of it is amazing.
Whether you can use anything else, just think traditional. Board, brick, ice breaking gets the point across also, and has been done for years now.

It was mostly the smell and gore factor I was triing to fix....the problem I have found with the other methods wood and the what not is they either break at a different intensity or if they mimic bone in tinsile strength you tend to loose your "angle of strike" ......and yeah , lol I guess I just sorta jumped out there with the first post, yup ..the water IS deep
