A few minutes ago I spoke with a woman who wanted to tell me about her 30 year-old son who will be competing in a local Professional Wrestling show this weekend.
I asked how much he would earn. She said "He will get $300 for showing up, and $600 if he wins".
I said "When will they let him know if he's going to win"?
She got a puzzled look on her face and said "If he wins it will be a very good Christmas for our family. I sure hope he wins. I think he will. He's pretty big".
When I saw Andre the Giant in 1976 in Shreveport when I was 10 years old I knew wrestling was not competative. I was surpised (and disheartened) to learn that 32 years later in 2008, there are still adults who don't know this.
