View Full Version : fear no karate man
i was reading my mail and i a saw an ad saying 'fear no karate man' curious to see what it was i followed the website and found it to be a self defence website . by this stage i asked my self why should one fear a martial arts practitioner if they are taught only to use techniques in self defence . which brings me onto my next point which that the website claims i qoute ' Which meant all the fancy jumping, kicking and punching the Far East "gurus" were teaching was, frankly, bulls*** when it came to surviving violent altercations. ' there are other claims on the site aswell i would like to know your thoughts on wether or not we should stop doing karate for self defence and use this guy's style : http://www.closecombattraining.com (http://www.closecombattraining.com/cctraining/?formid=41&Contact0Email=Enter+Your+Email+Here&Contact0FirstName=Enter+Your+First+Name+Here&type=CustomFormWeb&Submit=Click+Here+To+Continue&contactId=382483)

Wow - that is such over-the-top BS that I have to wonder if it was written as a deliberate parody.
well whatever it is that Captain whoever he is making some seriously questionable claims . It think it could even be an internet scam cant believ google would have that as an ad !
America's #1 self defense expert
I CAN guarantee you will have the skills, confidence and near-magical ability to protect your family in a violent attack and never fear any man ever again.
But time is short, and you must hurry.
Captain Chris
World Leader In Self Defense
It's called 'marketing'. He has a product to sell; therefore, he will present the facts in such a light that people will be inclined to buy it. That was one tacky site.
Assuming the guy does not live near you, he probably cannot be your teacher, hence cannot teach you much. If you want books and DVDs about self defence, there are better alternatives available.
 true we all gott make money somehow but i would hate to think about the people who actually try and use that stuff we must all be wary of the stuff we read online

I think that instead of "facts", you meant to write "ludicrous comic-book fantasies that no one over the age of 10 should believe for even half a second".
the soldiers who used this devastating system were legendary for jumping dozens of armed Nazi and elite Japanese commandos...
And Killing Them With Their Bare Hands!
... but even more incredible is... in many cases, these Allied "Super Soldiers" did not even bother using their weapons ("too slow and clumsy", they reported).
Instead, they would just use these extremely effective movements they were taught sometimes the night before they were shipped off to battle.
How to snatch a loaded gun right out of a "Gangsta's" hand so damn fast it will literally tear his trigger finger off! (And then immediately—without even thinking about it—cave his chest in without skipping a beat.)
Listen, I really do charge $14,987.00 PER LESSON to teach this system in person.
Plus, you have to cover food, lodging and the outrageous cost of the plane ticket.
And even at that price (well over $15k added up), I have a "waiting list" stretching over a year long. Mostly, these are para-military contractors and security professionals backed by companies (and governments) who can pay my outrageous fees without blinking.
But if I hear from you TODAY...
I will send the entire Close Combat Training System right to your doorstep—for you to watch and use for 30 days—FREE (all you pay is $19.95 shipping and handling).
as long as you are a member in good standing, I will send you—on MY dime and at MY expense—
Free Vitamins For Life!
... These are literally the most expensive vitamins on the planet.
... Studies have shown they help fight heart attacks, strokes, and Alzheimer's... help improve your memory, IQ, eyesight, and sex drive (many of my 'Core members report "lasting" twice as long!)... improve blood pressure and cholesterol... balance your hormones, mood, sleep cycles... eliminate arthritis, joint, and muscle pain... enhance your metabolism (literally melting your body fat)... and, most importantly:
Granting You Immunity From Over
5,670 Known Diseases!

All right, I think I would have used a different expression if I had read further than the first few lines.
wow i think i missed that bit this is definitely satire
.....i would like to know your thoughts on wether or not we should stop doing karate for self defence ....

It's a neat, round sum isn't it, though?
I don't know if it is satire/deliberate parody, actually. It's B.S. and all, but it reminds me of ads I've seen in Black Belt magazine. I think this Captain Chris guy is really trying to sell a product.
P.S. I love how when you try to close the browser window, a "live agent" stops you to offer you a "special" discount. :D

I like this last one:
According to the NRA, the best form of personal protection is to be in possession of a loaded firearm at all times. To ensure your personal safety, stay the hell away from NRA members.
:laugh::laugh::laugh:
"In the event that you are mugged, switch immediately from Democrat to Republican."
Of course if you switch from Republican to Democrat, you and the mugger might be able to bond.
Oooh, Maybe I wasn't supposed to say that, oh well to late. :D
# Pickpockets thrive in large, crowded areas where they can blend in and strike unnoticed. Stick to dark, isolated alleyways. this one cracked me up  Ed thanks for pointing out i wrote a stupid karate is not for self defence Osu!

Karate works well enough. You just shouldn't do it for self-defense because it is a shallow view that gets outgrown. Same principle applies to any martial art with any depth at all to it.
