Years ago, actually decades ago when I was very young & starting out in martial arts like most kids' I saw Enter the Dragon & wanted to be the next Bruce Lee. I wanted to be able to take on & mow through all comers'. Then David Carradine came along with Kung Fu & that too showed me a different side of the arts. At the time due to the fact I was too young to understand it was the temple flashback scenes that really drew me into that show & that's what made it a classic & timeless.
I went through one system after another. Collecting black belts. Going to tournnaments & fighting. A win here, a loss there. Same thing went for the street. Endless fighting. Going to school after school & searching for something. Problem was though, looking back very few schools or so called masters' I encountered had what I was seeking. What I was seeking was beyond form. Beyond technique.
Now after all these years & all my travels I've found the source. It's not about money, titles or rank. It's not about style or a particular culture. It's about finding myself & it's beyond form. I train, study & teach because it makes me happy. It keeps me fit & healthy. It's more spiritual for me now than anything else & has nothing to do with religion.
It's about expression of spirit & intent & most of all not forcing it but rather just flowing.
