If you are in Melbourne, Australia next Saturday 13 Feb, I strongly suggest you get down to Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre in Albert Park. At 4.00pm, over 100 students from the National Sports Science University in Tokyo (日本体育大学 Nippon Taiiku Daigaku or Nittaidai for short) will be giving a public demonstration of their skills. If previous years are anything to go by, the arts likely to be represented are Kendo, Naginata, Judo, Sumo, Shorinji Kempo, Kyudo and Japanese dance. Entrance is free.

Usually the student delegations spend some time whilst in town training with local dojos of their particular art. Contact your state governing body for more info.

They leave for Sydney on 15th but I don't have any info on the demonstration there.

Ben,

I've been to a few of their demos previously - well worthwhile. The Shorinji Kempo delegation will be training with our club on friday 12th Feb at Monash Uni. They are always a bunch of polite, dynamic and very knowledgeable kenshi (students). Great to train with.

Cheers,
