Good morning everyone!
On Thursday night/Friday morning around midnight, I will be taking BudoSeek offline to perform a major upgrade of our forum software. This upgrade will be very extensive and involve nearly every part of our site. Thus, the downtime for our site is expected to be a minimum of 12 hours.
We will be posting regular updates to our Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/pages/BudoSeek-Martial-Arts-Community/83125572729) as the upgrade is underway.

Just a reminder that we'll be going offline for our site upgrade tonight at Midnight. I am hoping that this upgrade will only keep us offline until around midday tomorrow, but it's likely it may be longer. Be sure to check in over at our Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/pages/BudoSeek-Martial-Arts-Community/83125572729) for updates.

Yoo-hoo! We are back open... or at least mostly. I still have a LOT of work to do in order to get things back to my satisfaction. I still need to add back a few old features, and introduce a few new surprises. :)
I am moving this to the Member Announcements forum so that you may comment on the work so far.
Love it....totally awesome boss. Simple, simple, simple....
Kudos....

Guess I'll have to get used to it. It's kind of lost it's 'homey' feel. One thing I hope changes back is that when I hit 'Reply' to a PM, the "to:" field is blank so you have to manually type the name in.

Thanks and noted... I promise that homey is coming back soon. The work has really only just started.
David, I just checked the PM issue you reported and I did not have that problem. When you get a PM, you have three choices. You can "Reply with Quote", which does populate the To line, or you can use the "quick reply" box below the message field which does not require a To line. Then there is the Forward option (on the left side) and this one does require a username be typed in the To box. To me, the Forward looks a lot like "reply" button because the arrow goes to the left. :)
Anyway, if you'll have any other issues to report, please do so in this thread. The best eyes and ears for what is going on is you guys and I certainly appreciate the help.

You're absolutely right, Robert; that's what I get for replying to PM's and posting before my coffee. It is "forward", I must have just glanced at the arrow. Duh.
I appreciate all the work you're doing Robert, and I'm glad to see us back up! :cool2:

One thing I like so far is there don't appear to me any mouseover popups. Unless I'm mistaken there was an RSS feed thing that used to pop up when you ran your pointer over it. This is my current pet peeve with websites, everywhere you move your mouse some little window pops up for you to Digg it, "like" it, Twitter it, etc. It drives me crazy.

Thanks for the report back. I understand the coffee thing. I was up until 3 AM and had to have my coffee too!

I agree with that, and I do not plan on re-implementing it on the site again.
It has a new feel that will take some getting use to. I can only imagine all the work that goes into an upgrade like this, I've had fits installing a program on my computer.
Question, it seems that the Articles are now listed in the Discussion Forum as separate threads. Is this intentional?
But hey, it doesn't take a lot to confuse me.

Not sure what you are talking about. Can you point me at it?
I've also noticed that our names are not shown on each post. under the user name and avatar as before. One would have to go the member's profile to see if they supplied it.

Yep, that and the member's martial arts are not listed. I hope to have that corrected soon, but have learned that calling such data to that location from the user profile works a little differently, and I haven't yet figured out how to implement it.

Never mind, it's not there now. When I first logged on earlier today I clicked new posts in the forum and got a few posts and a lot of articles, it was confusing, but now all I see are posts to threads.
Must be me and my computer ninja skills.

A couple of things I've noticed. The newest member on the Home page does not match the newest member on the Forum page. When I tried to click on the new member on the Home page it gave me an error message (404 Not Found). No problem on the Forum page.
Also it takes a long time for the site or any of the post to load. A lot longer then any other sites or forums.

I have noticed the slowness too. I think that we've addressed the slowness issue with today's move to another server. We'll see once we get more active today.
UPDATE: This version of vBulletin does not show members who are "awaiting email confirmation" on the forum homepage. However, that might be changeable. I'll look into it. As far as the link problem on the home page, the "widget" is still in beta and the problem reported. Hopefully we should be able to get that straight soon.

Two things: the editor does not have the WYSIWYG/HTML toggle any longer, and the links in the published post are pretty hard to see since they're no longer underlined and only in a slightly different shade of blue. The latter is probably easily fixed with CSS mods.

Thanks Barry. I will look into both.

Barry,
The WYSIWYG editor is still there. If you look in the upper right-hand corner, you will see a A/A icon, that toggles you into WYSIWYG mode (see attachment). You can also choose to use a full editor instead of the quick reply method by clicking the "Go Advanced" button.
