Looks very good, very similar to harimau/macan. Absolutely LOVE the destructive takedowns.

Impressive! Yes, it's quite similar to harimau pencak silat. Harimau, by the way, means tiger. Which makes me wonder if there are similarities in how the crocodile and tiger move.

My experience with buya tends to be a lot lower to the ground than harimau. Although my experiences have been brief.

The harimau we (style I teach) do is very rarely on our feet. Butt, knees, side, etc. The positions the gentleman in the video was in on the ground from executing the takedowns was (to me) indistinguishable from our harimau postures.

I freely admit to zero experience with Buya before seeing this video. Can't seem (have not spent much time looking yet) any information about anyone teaching this in the US. Can anyone tell me if there's any practicioners in Texas? I'd lvoe to attend a seminar on this.

Salaam Alaikum, These two systems,(harimau and Buaya) are among the several systems I teach, anyone who truly teaches these systems will have Sumatran sourcings....and much bladed expertise... General Hanafi's Harimau has a school established through Guru Richard C. Debordes... in Dallas... anyone who teaches authentic sumatran harimau will know the names of the kudas... or tiger postures... related in these lineages.... such as:...Lempat Harimau, Bara Matjan Kuda, Pasang, Garuda Kuda,etc.. among 50 or so others.... This is harimau alone..... which is not limited to ground fighting at all... there is a midline as well as highline aspect to it ... Buaya is also as involved.... and very powerfully using shin chokes, and chambered rear leg applications... Crocodile death rolls... and other rare applications only an authentic silat teacher would know... The legs figure prominently in these arts... so there is need for much flexibility and leg power... these practices done correctly can damage a person physically if you do them too much or with a guru who is not aware of the dangers...

anyone interested in knowing more about these arts or Sumatran Silat in general, please feel free to contact me... I'm in San Diego California...
