Anybody here into Paintball.

I have been into it for years.

I like playing indoors and there just happens to be a place here in the middle of Boston less than 5 minute walk away.

There is definately a science behind clearing a room and paintball seems to be a good way of practicing such things.

Another thread mentioned hand guns vs long guns.
In paintball I prefer 2 pistols. I can cover fire with my bad hand and can point with my good hand.

My dad lives in upstate New York and ran a gun shop for years so I have been shooting since I was kid.

When paintball came out we (brothers and frineds) spent countless hours running around shooting each other.

Even with no training certain tactics seem to evolve.

If you havent tried it give a go...its a blast.

Yeah, I paintball, but I'm really bad at it. I'm a rifleman, and can usually hit what I shoot at. :) The problem is that my friend favors a sniper rifle modified with a laser sight and fully automatic. :( That thing is crazy. He shoots me before I can even find out where he is. :( Still fun though. :D

You guys play old school (the traditional trees and bushes) or do you fancy the newer faster game with portable barriers and bunkers?

In Texas we play at night since the days are so hot and wearing your gear can heat you up fast in July and August. Jeff, you guys play at nite in Boston?

Old school all the way! The new school is for people who get lost in the woods, gored by deer, and mauled by squirrels. :D Just kidding. ;) I play old school because I like it more. Always nice to get a clean shot because your opponent trips on a root or falls out of tree they were hiding in (assuming they don't break anything, like the gun......;) )

hehehe

I remind them why man is instictively afraid of the dark
I grew up in Queens NY, but my dad lived in upstate and had a big chunk of land with lots of woods.
Day / night / hot / cold we did paintball.
Did alot of old west style quick draw show downs too.
Some some cool forts.

Here is a fun one for you to try sometime...paintball...on bikes.

Outside I want a rifle and the longest range possible. Sniping is where its at.
Inside if I can only have one I like the rifle, but if I can have 2 I go with the 2 pistols.

Fightgrrl has played some hand guns games with me...ask her if she even gets a chance to shoot anybody.

Maybe we should have a Budoseek gathering / seminar and do some paintball.

Jeff

I dont brag about my MA skills cause frankly there is nothing ot brag about...but shooting...Im a real good shot.

A friend of mine has a skeet set up at there house in New Hampshire...his dad him and I have spent hours and hours shooting at skeets with handguns.

Sounds good to me. What happened to you winter training/seminar tour where it is warmer here in the South (it was snowing a little this morning). That should bring you closer to the masses here in TX. and LA.

Winter get away....

I would love to get away any winter....this year even more, it is brutally cold here in Boston.
I usually take a winter vacation to somewhere warm and get in some training while there.

Conserving $$$$ right now. We have been having landlord troubles and are looking into other spaces.

I have my eye one primo spot in particular but its a bold jump.
Ah potential vs the safe status quo.
I may even not go away this summer to make it happen.

I may go to Europe this spring. I have friends in Germany and England who might arrange for me to do some seminars there.
One is a guy I meet at the school in China and another is in the military.
Knowing ahead of time whether it will be financially worth it is the problem.

Im not Asian a world champion or particularly excell at any one aspect of the arts so Im not exactly a seminar demand.

I realy like the idea of a Budoseek gathering. Be neat to meet and train with all of you.
And waste you all in paintball ;)

I've played for the last 2 years when I can. I'm itching to do some outdoors stuff. The local indoor places are ok, but seem to be way too many 'spray n pray' folks at times. Last outting has so much paint in the air, I got lit up 9 times within 30 seconds, and that was standing still. Def. wasn't fun.

I'm currently using a Tippman Custom 98, with J&J ceramic barrel, and a PT Extreme pistol modified for constant air on a remote. :) Looking at upgrading to a Spyder Fenix or Electra DX when I can scrape up the cash. :)

Y'all do a paintball gathering, if I can make it I'll be there. :)

Budoseek paintball game....Yeah I'd do that. I have never played indoors before. We have a speedball field built at a friends house and also have a large woodsball field. We used to play every other week but my friends band is starting to travel more so we can't play as often as we want, of course we would play everyday if given the chance. I use a spyder imagine with a teardrop barrel and revolution hopper.

I do a gathering as well, if i could get leave.

Jeff, upstate New York is one of the best places to play(I was born and raised in the "real upstate").

As for not being able to snipe Nightstrike, my tippman 98 with flatline barrel, N02 tank, bolt mod,and other "secret fix'ns :D does wonders at the long range shot.

My brother has an A-5 and used to have a flatline. He couldn't get it to shoot that straight. Granted it would go alot farther but it wasn't as accurate as he wanted it to be. He got a new barrel(Lapco Big shot) and a regulator. He has never tried the flatline with the reg. though so maybe that will help, any other tips?

peacefulwarrior

The reg, might help with the flatline, it is a testy little thing. Also make sure that he has put it on straight, if it curves to the left or right, turn it the other way.

Also the reason that the reg helps , is if you are pushing the ball with to much force it will not get the back spin it needs to stay straight.

I hope i helped alittle, i know of a good site for flatine tips, but i will have to lok for it again.

I love paintball and would love to get together with you all for a nice game. But I hate indoors. Reminds me too much of laser tag. I so hate laser tag.

Came across this old thread today. Jeff, I didn't know you were into paintball. When you do finally make it to Texas, we have a place to play. There is about ten of us that got back into it here recently and have been doing a little playing. One of our guys, my karate instructor, arranged for a place for us to play. We have cleared several trails in a section of woods about 4 acres or so. We are working on our forts and barriers now. No speedball course, just straight woodball. We are also getting our own CO2 tank so we can stop running to Academy every weekend.

I'm sure we could work out a rental agreement. :D
Or, we could let you borrow some gear.

I've been invited to run a session for a paintball group next month. They want to do some rolling and movement stuff with guns, should be a lot of fun.

Has anyone tried airsoft? How do they figure out who has been hit, or is it down to honesty on thepart of the players?

Dennis Monk

With airsoft it is pretty much up to honesty, unless you have several eagle eyes people watching closely to call a hit. Using paintball inside can be messy and using it up close can be well, painful.

Paintball kicks butt. A friend of mine has a course and a shop, here in Tucson. I love to play desert ball, not speedball, and yes, a Gilly suit enables me to snipe even those pimple poppers with the Angels...Playing in the woods of upstate NY sounds awesome.

Wow, paintball is a riot, haven't played in some time though. have to get out this spring. and do some. I heard some military units tried this stuff as an option over the ever reliable MILES gear. Wow, it is fun.

I've only paintballed a couple times and that was in the Military Science classes I took in university. It was nice as we had studied tactics in the classes leading up to the match. We painted up, donned BDUs, and even used smoke bombs. What a blast!
