Hi All -

I'm Alex and am new to this site. I train in Iaido and Taijitsu in the Florida Panhandle. I'm curently deployed to Afghanistan so I'm doing mental waza for Iai and punching doors on occasion for Taijitsu.

My Iaido Sensei / the Kancho has tasked me with opening an Iaido dojo in America.. with a full time job it's a little difficult..especially with deployment. But I have 2-3 students who show up now and then.

That's about all for now.. time to go back to finding the end of the internet.

Alex

Welcome Alex! Who do you train with in Florida? I know a lot of folks in Florida and wouldn't be surprised if I know him.

Take care over there and be safe!

I train by myself actually :)

I go back to Japan for yearly training in Taijitsu / Iaido.. take a lot of notes, get tossed around the dojo for a week and a half and grade at the end (for Taijitsu). I've trained Taijitsu on and off for 4 years and am 3rd Kyu.. plane tickets are expensive so promotions are slow. But I really enjoy the practically of Taijitsu, so I still practice it. I'm really looking for someone to practice the joint locks and throws on. After that, then I'd be the Uke or throw dummy for them if.. but so far it's been hard to find someone. lol

Iaido I've also been practicing by myself, (no Iai dojos here), and I'm suppose to start my schools' own dojo here in the states where ever I go. We're non-profit, so I feel a lot of people don’t take us seriously. Also with the rise in MMA, traditional arts are in decline for now until this fad ends. I made Ni-dan in 2008 and if I can make it back to Japan this fall I might grade for San-dan.. we'll see. I really enjoy Iaido. I wanted to learn something that was very "Japan" while I lived there. I think I choose wisely. :)
