Let me also suggest Shuai Jiao.

Books...check used book stores.

Chinese Fast Throws for Fighting by Liang Shou (btw for people who dont think Tai Chi has good applications...almost every throw in there Tai Chi does too).

Century has good deals on tapes from time to time

Dear Jeff Burger:
Thanks a million for your wonderful suggestions. These Chinese Fast Throws or TD's would be good with or w/o Gi. Wouldn't they.
I am going this weekend to Bordr's bookstore and order Fast Throws for Fighting by Liang Shou. Also I will research Tai Chi for combat on my shelf.
Thanks also for the Century recommendation on tapes.

Check out anything put out by Mark Hatmaker and his ESP (Extreme Self Protection.)

I'd also check the wrestling portion of your bookstore. Wrestling has some serious no-nonsense takedowns and just about the best takedown defense techniques around.

I'll second that^^^^

Darrel Gholar has out DVD's and tapes that seem to by all accounts be first rate. The last I heard he was cross training with bjj stylist in exhange for his expertise in collegiate, freestyle and greco takedowns. He was a very accomplished collegiate wrestler in the US.

Is this the book or another one by him maybe?

Chinese Fast Wrestling For Fighting:The Art of San Shou Kuai Jiao

The author's name on this book is Liang Shou-Yu.

We have such a sad collection of decent martial arts books available here in Australia :(

Darrell Gholar's DVD is TOP NOTCH all the way. That and it's inexpensive as well. It is without a doubt the top takedown instructional on the market for fighters at the moment.

I would reccomend winning wrestling moves. It details well over a hundred takedowns with clear language and pictures, and various moves to counter them.

I've got everything on this page ... too bad I can't master the skills contained in em as easily as Neo in The Matrix.
