View Full Version : Rat vs Cat Vs Dog
In the spirit of the recent few threads...
Who would win. An extreamly large rat, medium sized cat or small dog in an no holds bar three on three grudge match?
The Rat!!
Did you never see Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as a kid!?!

The rat hands down.
If the cat was big enough though & not fat, the cat would finish the dog quick & then deal with the rat.

Hands-down, the rodents of unusual size, in the fire swamp(est of places).
Be well,
Jigme
Definitely the rat.
I saw a rat in a market that had been skinned, had its organs taken out and was dried onto a display. All its teeth and claws were displayed next to it. The thing was huge, easily the size off a small dog and bigger than any cat. Scared me off going near sewers and drains for life.
Continuing the the style of recent threads,
The rat could be Splinter (mutant turtles), the cat could be the cat in the hat (cunning, if stupid looking) and the dog,Hong kong phooey.
Definitely the rat
The dog would take care of the rat and then the cat would take care of the dog :D
My inlaws had a chocolate lab cross rotweiller (sp?) once and its favorite thing to do was to kill rats. Once when they raised an old grainery and the rats started running out from under it the dog had a hay day chomping them once and flinging them into the air and then grabbing another one before the first one hit the ground. Of course this was the same dog, however, that ran every time one of the barn cats would even look in his direction.

The simple answer from childhood poem (with ammendements!):
I know an old lady who swallowed a fly
I don't know why she swallowed the fly
Perhaps she'll die
I know an old lady who swallowed a spider
That wriggled and jiggled and tickled inside her
She swallowed the spider to catch the fly
But I don't know why she swallowed the fly
Perhaps she'll die
I know an old lady who swallowed a bird
How absurd to swallow a bird
She swallowed the bird to catch the spider
That wriggled and jiggled and tickled inside her
She swallowed the spider to catch the fly
But I don't know why she swallowed the fly
Perhaps she'll die
I know an old lady who swallowed a rat
Can you believe that. She swallowed a rat.
She swallowed the rat to catch the bird
She swallowed the bird to catch the spider
That wriggled and jiggled and tickled inside her
She swallowed the spider to catch the fly
But I don't know why she swallowed that fly
Perhaps she'll die
I know an old lady who swallowed a cat
Imagine that. She swallowed a cat.
She swallowed the cat to catch the rat
She swallowed the rat to catch the bird
She swallowed the bird to catch the spider
That wriggled and jiggled and tickled inside her
She swallowed the spider to catch the fly
But I don't know why she swallowed that fly
Perhaps she'll die
I know an old lady who swallowed a dog
What a hog to swallow a dog!
She swallowed the dog to catch the cat
She swallowed the cat to catch the rat
She swallowed the rat to catch the bird
She swallowed the bird to catch the spider
That wriggled and jiggled and tickled inside her
She swallowed the spider to catch the fly
But I don't know why she swallowed that fly
Perhaps she'll die
I know an old lady who swallowed a goat
Opened her throat and down went the goat!
She swallowed the goat to catch the dog
She swallowed the dog to catch the cat
She swallowed the cat to catch the rat
She swallowed the rat to catch the bird
She swallowed the bird to catch the spider
That wriggled and jiggled and tickled inside her
She swallowed the spider to catch the fly
But I don't know why she swallowed that fly
Perhaps she'll die
I know an old lady who swallowed a cow
I don't know how she swallowed the cow
She swallowed the cow to catch the goat
She swallowed the goat to catch the dog
She swallowed the dog to catch the cat
She swallowed the cat to catch the rat
She swallowed the rat to catch the bird
She swallowed the bird to catch the spider
That wriggled and jiggled and tickled inside her
She swallowed the spider to catch the fly
But I don't know why she swallowed that fly
Perhaps she'll die
I know an old lady who swallowed a horse
I don't know why she swallowed a horse, but she's dead, of course!
:D :D :D
Are you guys OKAY? Cats and dogs are natural predator with big canine teeth and/or razor sharp claws. The rat would win even if he was twice the size of the dog or cat.
Great replies everyone!
But after reading Posiview's poem, I'd have to go the the secret option number 4. The old lady!
She swallowed all three up! :D
Seriously, I too think a rat would win! :wink2:

Sorry folks....
I believe ya'll are thinking of domestic sized small cats. He said Medium sized cat which would be a Jaguar, Puma, Leopard, Cougar, Panther, Mountain Lion, etc etc. Hands down the cat would win.
Of course, I am biased... (cat person :D ), my tiger cat would reck 'em !
... that's a good kitty....
... Meow?.... Meow!!
:wink2:
I didn't think this thread would return to haunt me!
Jim I too am a cat person, but I should have made it a bit clearer. The medium sized cat is domesticated...

Maybe that's what you meant not what was said. :wink2:
There are 3 sizes of the Cat Family.
Sorry, I watch too much Discovery Channel and Animal Planet and will debate this til the cats come home. Medium size is those listed above, Small is domestic sized such as pets, and Large is those such as Tiger, Siberian Tiger and other species of Tiger, Lion, (Cheetah? -not sure on this one), and the anamoly - Liger.
Fellow catlover, claw up to speed! :D
Ah, but what if the small dog was a Staffordhsire Terrier, maybe even a Paterdale, or Jagdterrier? the patterdale may have some issues with a smaller "medium cat" (bobcat or ocelot size say) but if a Staffy could lock down on even a Mtn Lion or Jaguar and it would be a toss up til the end... though theres no question against a leopard.
(dog person here - and might I add this conversation is so sick, its belongs in the Colloseum, right after they set the criminals on fire and just before the Gladiators come out to fight to the crowds bloodthirsty whims)
