Hi!

I am looking for a martial arts college/university or any similar school to those where I could study/PRACTISE martial arts all the time.

The IDEAL place would be like this:

I can practise different martial arts at least more than once a day. They would offer accommodation. The place would be located somewhere between the greater Los Angeles and southern San Diego area.

They would offer at least SOME sort of scholarship so that I would get my visa more easily (I currently live in Finland). And it would be important that I could practise there at least for 6 months but ideal would be from 1 to 2 years. And I would be able to get different colour belts while imroving in my training. So that is the ideal place but it does not matter if there is a same sort of place that does match most of the things I just described.

If you know a place like that, please let me know or if you know anyone who knows, would it be possible to get his/her email or other contacts.

Thanks

I know of no Martial Arts universities or colleges in Southern California. Most of the colleges and universities have several MA classes. If you are a tech type you can go to Caltech where the original school for SKA (Ohshima) still practices. I think you can even take Dux ryu at USC :wink2: I seriously doubt there is any such thing as a MA scholarship, but if you find one let me know!

Thanks for your time. But like I said that was ideal. Getting a scholarship would be a plus but not a must.

In the US we do our sport scholarships differently from Europe, unfortunately. You need to be in a competitive sport that brings money to the university and to the best of my knowledge NONE even have martial arts teams. I sure wish we had the European system - I like how they did things in the UK, Germany, and Yugoslavia. I'm sure Finland is similar.

As for interesting schools, LA has A LOT, so you need to be more specific. Lots of BJJ (I know a great guy in San Diego named Roy Harris - look him up on the internet, he's wonderful). I know there are a few Gracies in LA (Rickson has a team near UCLA, I believe) as well as Dan Inosanto (FMA).

There are, of course, many more. This is the Hollywood area, of course.

Yeah, I havenīt found one really. But there is one place that is even recognized by the USA. (http://www.acms.edu/) but they donīt offer any training and there is also one another one: SUBLEVEL KENPO...try that on google and you find one martial arts school and they actually offer degree programmes.

God Bless!

And NO I donīt need to be more specific. The southern California is the area that is fine with me and as soon as I find a nice school there, I just move to live there! So simple:)

God Bless
