Just out of curiousity, for those who study KB/MT what would be tools or methods you would use in a street situation? and for others what would you use in a street situation against a KB/MT stylist? just curious and bord at work. :)

Well the round kick to the leg is a great technique.
In the street vs another kick boxer. I hope I dont get into any fights, if I do I hope they have no training.
A favorite enrty / closing the gap tactic for me is to spit in their face and hit them in their reaction.
Though I practice MT I also practice alot of open hand techniques. I dont like the idea of punching and matching my hand bones vs someones skull.
For the street I like ....
Leg techniques groin kick, round to thigh, cross stomp / oblique kick (knee, shin ,instep), low side ( Kali style at knee, shin, instep) and knees.
Hand techniques finger jab (eyes throat), leapord fist (2nd knuckles to throat), ridgehand /forearm, various slaps, wrist (front and back), elbows.
If I know they are a kick boxer and I believe it will stay 1 on 1 I would want to take them down. If multiple I would still try to do a takedown but I would try to stay down with him. Id prefer to get in a fight ending stomp while they are down.
Thats if I dont have a weapon or cant get to one (which is kind of unlikely if your resourceful ... EVERYTHING is a weapon).

I like using thigh kicks, knees, and elbows.

In a street scenario what would be the best technique to use if u were attacked by multiple people from behind (all are untrained and angry).

The 36th Method .... run away.
Even if you wanted to beat them running away is a good strategy.
If you fight them as a group odds are against you. If you run and they chase you are fighting them on 1 ON 1 bases ( your conditioning vs theirs).
In theory you could tire them all out and then go back and beat them.
If its actually comes down to getting attackeed by multiples Im probably going to use the like a whirling dervish method.

I like your idea Jeff but I was wondering, what would you do if they surrounded you. If you're surrounded, there wouldn't be anywhere to run away and tire them out. How about beating some of them up first to get out of the circle and run away?

There are a million "what ifs".
1st Im going to try to not let them surround me.
2nd What weapons do I have or can I get to ( my belt, a pen, a rock, chair, stick.....).
3rd If I have to fight any one Im probably going to be as ruthless as possible, if there could be more so multiples is the time.
4th Go through one and keep going, as in past him and down the street running.
cant do that?
5th Whirling Dervish, Tazmanian Devil Fu become a tornado of eye jabs, throat smacks, groin kicks, leg / knee kicks and stomps.
I do practice for multiples. Im a believer in you think in your training and you fly in a fight. Whatever comes out in the fight comes out, the rest is stuff your working towards. You cant think too much in a multiples situation.
Good luck

thats Funny Jeff. I 100% agree with you but you make it sound gooder. As far as the "Street" techniques I would say the exact same BUT a good point you made was open hand techniques. I don't really train those but that is a hell of a smart idea. Yesterday I was hitting the heavy bag bare fisted and thought that KB/MT fighters (from my experiance) ALWAYS wrap there fists and wear some sort of glove. Do you think fighting them in a street situation would give YOU the advantage? Mind you I would rather not get punched at all but... Just curious.

Well they might kick my butt but they might break their hand. Making the rematch interetsing.
I think they hurt their hand that going to be a new target for me.
Jeff
In a street situation if my life was really in danger i would do a close quarter shin kick to the thigh. Nobody expects a kickboxer to kick when they are very close to a person so it is a total surprise. This gives the worst dead leg that they have ever felt. It is really painful to take and impossible to ride it.
Then there could be the rock-hand (illegal, yes) to the face. It usually really hurts.
Or what is really brutal is a kick into the front of the knee. People always think that your going to either hit them in the groin or the face. Which is why this is a MASSIVE surprise. It can leave em crippled for life. But that is only if i was in a life or death situation.
If it wasn't that serious i would not use fists because it would make me look like the aggressor. I would slap em with the bottom of my palm (devastating to him but makes a silly slapping noise).
If i was against a KB or MT individual in the street i would go for the knees always. Knee is gone they can't do anything to you.
but i hope that moment never comes

I would say that Kickboxing is alright for self defenced with along with fights experinced will do nicely. When you fight on the streets you do all kinds of moves that is illgal in the ring.

Sorry if I'm wrong but this sounds like you think all Kick boxers do is kick. Kicking is definatly in the minortity when I spa with a kickboxer. I recently watched a kick boxing tournament where they had to introduce a minimum of three kicks per round because the fights were simply turning into boxing matches, no one was kicking because they were getting too heavily countered.
While your coming in close range trying to kick him in his knee you better have your face well guarded, if he's any good he'll have you with a jab, cross, uppercut, hook, elbow etc combo, before you can blink.
