Do you know a link to kata videos online somewhere? Not for sale, but actual video clips or short movie files. Judo, Jujutsu, Karatedo, Tae Kwon Do (hyungs/poomse), Kung Fu, etc are all welcome. Let's post'em and let's see'em!

Regarding those shotokan videos. A friend of mine was very excited one day to say that his purchase from e-bay of these old shotokan kata videos arrived. I did not have the heart to tell him he could download them for free from many different sites.

The nage no kata could be a LOT better, as there are many obvious issues with it, but I give them props for putting it out there and incuding the caveat that it does have mistakes. At the very least it gives people a general idea of which throws are involved and the general application - but I would not use it as a teaching tool.

Are you looking at Master Macs Tang Soo Do forms or his TKD forms?
Also see http://tsdu.sanctum-x.net/hyoungs.html
I'm looking at his TKD forms. Our forms are exactly like Master Mac's TKD forms, but ours are alot faster without all of the extra movement.

The subject came up regarding the differences between shotokai kata and say JKA. I have posted some links to some shotokai kata but I would like to make a dissclaimer first.
Shotokai schools vary greatly in style. All the videos I could find are of what I call a very fluid style of shotokai. The shotokai I was taught is very different from the videos seen here. In fact they look more like JKA than what is seen here. The funny thing is my roots in shotokai in Japan are with an instructor who was a student of Gichin Funakoshi, a personal friend and assistant to Shigeru Egami and in fact assisted Egami sensei when he opened his first dojo, yet the style I learned is so different from traditional Egami ryu shotokai.
Here are some alleged old videos of Sensei Tomoji Miyamoto in presence of Master Shigeru Egami. http://aiur.eii.us.es/~kobukan/videos_de_las_katas_oficiales_de.htm
From American Karate-do Shotokai (AKDS - Harada sensei)
Heian Shodan (http://www.shotokai.org/shodan15d.mov)
Others can be found at http://www.shotokai.org
The links to the other sites In Japan do not seem to be working. These are the best I can find at this time.

the kata are in quicktime format, but the encoding from tape has messed up in places. each kata is demonstrated at two speeds.

Anybody got weapons kata?
Specifically sai?
Im looking for something that is open competition worthy.
Jeff
Jeff,
I'm going to try to put our # 1 Sai kata on video for you this week. It's a traditional kata, but there is a portion where you can set up for a throw of the sai. You'll need 3 sai's for this as opposed to the normal 2. Because of the throw it has worked well for people in open and traditional tournaments. On the video I'll explain and demostrate the throw.
