Found this, thought I would share for all of your safety.
Lethal Statistics
PHYSICIANS:
a. The number of physicians in the U.S. is 700,000.
b. Accidental deaths caused by physicians per year are 120,000.
Accidental deaths per physician is 0.171 (statistics courtesy of U.S. Dept. of Health &Human Services)
Now think about this:
GUNS
a. The number of gun owners in the U.S. is 80,000,000.
b. The number of accidental gun deaths per year (all age groups) is 1,500.
c. The number of accidental deaths per gun owner is 0.000188.
Statistically, doctors are approximately 9,000 (nine thousand) times more dangerous than gun owners.
Conclusion: "Guns don't kill people, Doctors do!"
Fact: Not everyone has a gun, but almost everyone has at least one doctor. Please alert your friends to this alarming threat.
Out of concern for the public, the statistics on lawyers have been withheld, for fear the shock would cause people to panic and seek medical attention

 To bad those statistics don't include dentists...

Well, in defense of the docs... a whole lot more people see doctors than there are gun owners too. Factor that in, not a fair comparison without it.

I would like to comment on the dentsist though......what on earth compels someone to enjoy looking and prodding about in someones mouth for a living...  dentists are pure evil....they are obviously saddists, what other enjoyment could they get?

I used to think the same thing about dentists. I hated them. Every visit was painful. Then recently I started going to a dentist who happens to be a guy I went to high school with. He is great. He uses the latest state of the art techniques and tools and goes out of his way not to hurt you. Because of him I am back into the every six month visits.
Just so everyone is clear. I found this on an insurance website under medical humor. I assume the stats are accurate, but the post is for laughs.
Peace
Dennis

Hey Cliff - my dentist is also a friend from high school, and getting your teeth drilled is never a pleasant experience but the alternative is worse. In any case they do as best as they can to make the treatment as painless as possible.
Being a dentist is a necessary service, too bad they don't get a better rap. As to why anyone would become a dentist - money.

Hey! My dentist is also a guy I went to high school with.
It's funny when his assistants call him "Dr. Jordan" because to me he's just "Arthur".
He has a cool mini-mouth-cam he puts in your mouth that displays your ugly rotten abscesses in vivid living color on a 19" Sony hanging from the ceiling. This makes you pony up the cash for his repairs with minimal complaint.

I havent had a cavity since 3rd grade.
But I dont floss as much as I should.
I get my teeth cleaned for free at a nearby dental school.
Thats a pretty crazy statistic.
It might help you feel better to remember medicine is a practice. These guys are just practicing medicine.

"If they practice so much, why don't they get better? "
You should know that answer.
Practice does not make perfect. Perfect practice makes perfect.
