How does the ranking system work? I know myuku (I think that is how it is spelled) means no rank and that Kyu is like the beginning of rank, and that Dan is more advanced. But im not sure what the range is or how high they go.

Kyu grades (Mukyu - Ikkyu)
1st dan through 5th dan
6th dan through 10th dan
11th dan through 15th dan Beginner
Heaven
Earth
Man


Ranks from 11th dan through 15th dan of the "Man" level will be divided into 5 levels: Earth, Water, Fire, Wind, and Void, and will be the highest ranks in Bujinkan Dojo Happo Biken. The 5th dan examination is of a spiritual nature and is something which is done by Soke. A 15th dan will be considered to be a true shihan.

Thank you for the info. One question though are the Kyu grades no rank? In my Dojo there are guys with 7th and 8th Kyu ranks and the belts are green.

There are nine kyu ranks, "mukyu" not actually being a rank as such. Kyu-ranked students wear green belts, while all dan ranks wear black belts. Mukyu, or non-ranked students, wear white belts.
