It's safe to say that we all have a common bond through martial arts. But do we have any other bonds? Tell me what else you're interested in (as well as a little about yourself if you want).

I very interested in asian culture and specifically to Japan. I use to live there as a military brat and have never lost my zeal for it. My g/f and I collect asian memorbilia for display. Hopefully I'll have pictures if anyone's interested in seeing them.

I've got quite an extensive collection of dvds that range from all sorts of genres. Lately I've been getting back into animes alot. I've spent small sums of money on lots of tv season dvd's lately. They're quite nice to have if you're interested in movies and shows a lot. E-bay is my friend. ^_^;

I've been reading a lot of books lately as well. Usuaully I stick to fiction books of any sort. Anything from Orson Scott Card's sci-fi books to Chuck Palahniuk's dark satire books are game to me. But lately I've been reading more non-fiction books. I just finished a book on how Confucius teachings have positively affected asian cultures in social forms. America can really learn a lot from an asian social standard. This has prompted me to check out the Analects of Confucius, passages from the sage himself.

I use to jog a lot, but shin splints and a mild injury (somehow I've twisted both of my ankles) have made it hard to continue. So I've been weightlifting a lot lately. Hopefully my legs will heal soon, for jogging is a very addicting sport.

So there you go. I'm majorly bored and I want to know more about you. So post soon, damnit. :)

...

I should really look beyond the new topic button...

Close this, if a mod wants. No point in two of the same thread.

What does that mean? Like what about Asian cultures? Art, martial arts, food, clothes, music?

Just about everything. I work at a chinese restaurant where they don't cook very authentic (like most restaurants) food, but from time to time they cook up some chinese, korean, and japanese food just for the workers. I'm also filipino, so I will sometimes make some filipino food for myself. The decor of my bedroom is decorated with lots of asian trinkets. I have (on display. I'd never open it up) a bottle of Nikka whiskey with a metallic ornament over the spout of a samurai. Very beautiful. Other things, as well. Animes, mangas, music, culture, Confucianism, and, of course, martial arts.

U know. I would never have guessed you liked Orson Scott Card. Ender.
So are you going around the internet influencing world thinking to your own ends? ;)

What have you read of Card's?

OSC is, by far, my favorite writer. I have quite a collection of his books reaching back to A Planet Called Treason. The Alvin Maker series is nice. Some nice stand-alone novels are Enchantment and Pastwatch. I've read half of the Homecoming series, but I haven't been able to find the rest of the books in my town. Of course, the Ender's Game series is, by far, my favorite. You?

Do you know what an inguinal canal is? If you do, when you jog, do you notice any swelling or pain in that area?

No idea. I'm not very well versed in anatomy. But I do get swelling on the inner part of my shin. I've read that it's a common symptom of shin splints. Since then I've bought some new shoes (I use to use skateboarding shoes. Very bad idea because they were so flat. Now I've got some New Balances.) but I still get it a little bit. I live in an area where any which way is up a hill or into a body of water. I'm thinking that I am getting the splints from jogging up and down all the hills.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, as I don't have tons of money and no insurance, so I can't go to a doctor about it. I'm sure it's not important enough to go to a doctor, but it would be nice to hear some advice.

He got back in the hang of things with the book about Bean. That was the old Orson Scott Card who wrote Ender's Game.

Agreed.

It was interesting to see what happened in the subsequent following of all the characters, but he should've stayed with when they were all still children. Shadow is a great and creative retelling of Game and quite possibly my 2nd favorite out of the whole series.

I don't know about any disinterest in his later years, but I've enjoyed most of everything that is Card's.
