Does anyone know the brand name of the judo mats used in the recent 2004 Olympics?

Welcome aboard Patrick!

Not really sure which brand was use in the Athens Olympics, but I would be willing to bet that it was Kwon. The Europeans seem to have a thing for all things Kwon. ;) Their USA website is located at http://www.kwonusa.com/kwon/usa/training/mats/index.htm

For big events, including the Olympics here in the US, most of the time you will see Swain and Zebra brand mats. Both are exceptional, but the Zebra mats are a little cheaper. Their websites are located at:

Thank you! Do you have any idea about what the prices are of these mats might be? I didn't see any on their websites?

I think your typical Judo tatami-style 1mx2m mat is about $115 each. I know Zebra is sponsoring, or has for the last year, many of the national-level Judo events, and the mats used at those events are sold at a discounted price. I'd check with the national tournament directors (for a list of the national tournaments, go to www.usjudo.org) or contact Zebra directly.
