First of all I would like to say hello to all the members here. I happened upon this site by accident and after reading many of the posts I am glad I did.
And now...a little about myself...
I have been a Martial Artist going on 14 years now (10 of which I attended a school). One of my passions if teaching the Arts as well as practicing. My goal is to one day have a school of my own.
I, like many here, I would assume, do not see the Martial arts as a hobby or sport for myself. I view the arts as a way of life. I walk the same path wether I am in a school or out of it. I am a Martial Artist.
I currently reside in Portland OR and because the school I previously attended does not have branches up here I have been without instruction for 4 years. This is not a large problem, however, because I want to divirsify myself and not be locke into one style.
Well to get to my point... I was wondering if there was anyone out there with some advice on how I should proceede. I need a school/Instructor that see's the arts as seriously(religiously??) as I do. I need a style that is REAL and not all for show. I need a school that will recognise that I am not new to the arts( but honoring my rank is not an issue...I don't care if I have to start as white belt at a new school). I also need a place of study that will help me to further my dream of owning my own school one day by giving me teaching opportunities.
Sorry for the long post...too much coffee I guess :D
By the way my old style is Moo Duk Kwan...just in case you wondered.
Any help or advice or discussion would be very much appreciated. Thank you all.
