nobody in the UK watching it?
a guy called Chris Crudelli is presenting.....its kind of David Blaine (y) but the guy comes across really well. He's traveling round the far east looking at some of the more obscure and well known styles.......even a Dim Mak demo  (remembering the various discussions on the subject)
Unfortunately I have only caught the last couple of episodes...but it was certainly interesting.
Saw a few episodes and thought that the presenter was a joke.
Doesn't do the MA masters he interviews any justice!

I think the idea is to keep it fast paced so they are cramming alot of stuff ...weird camera angles etc.
Why did you think the presenter was a joke?
I thought he was a joke because of the way he was showing us MA. Making it all "MTV" style.
I am not saying that he should be all sage like or do a "David Attenbourgh" on the programmes. But he doesn't do the practice of MA any justice.

ok fair enough....
I guess when they do something for entertainment...not like a documentary you get that. They are always trying to do the weird camera work......it was like a cross between Derren Brown and David Blaine..
hello mandeigh
yes i have been watching it, i think chris does a good job as he dosnt just talk he takes part aswell. He spared the "knock out king" and beat him witch was impressive. He seems to know his stuff seems like a nice guy to.

I hope it gets repeated....I only caught the last two progs...story of my life...I thought it was an interesting way to indroduce some well known and lesser well known stuff to the general public....don't try this at home folks!

I qiute enjoyed it. I got a little tired of the David Blane bits towards the end but there was some very interesting stuff in that program. I liked the philipino guys, especially the blindfolded stick fighter. Some things were a bit wierd though, the telepathy and spirit raising bits spring to mind. At least there is a martial arts program on the telly and its better than fight school!

i thought fight school was quite good, but probably because theres so few martial arts programs, to compare it to, so anything that comes on seems great.

I loved fight school....for the same reason..there is so few MA progs on...but also I just loved teh way they were supposed to be living like monks, but the girls had to whack on a ton of make up before a 'fight'. The fight element did dissapoint me though...I had hoped they would actually fight in their own styles, instead of a points sparring match.....
anyway what happend to series 2? I thought we were getting another one?
yea everyone was telling me there was a series 2, but it never happened.

I must admit I still watched every episode of Fight School, I just found the people on it really annoying. Mind Body is repeated on wednesday nights, the first episode was on again last week. Keep an eye out on Bravo for Ultimate Warriors, half hour programs following a different martial art. National Geographic/Adventure one periodically show a series of documentaries called deadly arts. A Canadian woman travels the world trying out different styles.

Yeah i watched that show with Crudelli. I found it very interesting because it gave a brilliant insight into ALL types of martial arts. And he does those nifty tricks also
Hey, you guys over the pond, tell those BBC programmers to put the show on over here! I get BBC America, and while I won't complain about Monty Python and The Young Ones, I'd love to see this show.
:wink2:

What are you complaining about! You still got the Pythons and Young Ones!
Yea, they are both on that channel pretty much everyday...3 times a day. Now I know they are popular, but I've been to England and Ireland on a few different occasions and there are soooooo many other shows that just rock that they need to put on there.

I've been to England and Ireland on a few different occasions and there are soooooo many other shows that just rock that they need to put on there. well I hate to play the ole US verses UK card....but when it comes to comedy, we are soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo far ahead of you guys. Although I have to admit on of my favourite comedies from the US is Frasier....the timing is superb and the casting perfect (made by a UK company perhaps?? ) but for real good comedy, look no futher than Father Ted....... drink, feck, girls, arse  you know it makes sense

Got to agree with you there Mandeigh. Comedy perfection was achieved with Father Ted. Folks in the US, get yourself a multi region DVD player and search the net for Red Dwarf, Brass Eye, The Day Today, Alan Partridge, Bottom(Rick and Vivian from the young ones grown up!), Big Train, Coupling, Black Books, The Office, Black Adder and my current fav Green Wing. British comedy has come a long way since the Pythons and Young Ones.
The US does produce some very funny films mind you, anything by Kevin Smith, except Jersy Girl(what was he thinking???). Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson films are sooooo funny. Ive also seen some brilliant american stand up comedians. And lets not forget where the Simpsons and Futurama came from.

I cannot believe I didn't mention Blackadder......Rowan Atkinson is a complete genius and this journey through English History with the old snake himself is hilarious.....
'the arrow did not infact enter my body, by good luck my willie got in the way, thats something to tell the grand children' Quote ( although not completely acurately): Baldrick
the only one I can't watch was the last episode of Blackadder goes forth series. :(
