View Full Version : Grappling Magazine
Anyone read the articles about Jimmy Pedro and the U.S. Olympic Trials. A buddy of mine had a copy and I didn't have time to cover all of it. So I went to the mall around the way from work looking for a copy and Walden's Books does not carry ANY MA Magazines at this location. Then I went to Target and Wal-Mart and they do not carry MA Magazines. So, today I am headed to B&N down the road a ways in efforts to pick a copy up. Just wondering what other Judo-ka thought about the coverage.

Haven't looked at the mag.
From the news articles around the state, Jimmy Pedro teaches in Wakefield, where I used to live. He's from Methuen I guess. I recall one article stating, I probably have the wrong person in mind, that he's got 2 kids and is a web programmer for an IT company and is able to perform at an amazing Olympic level. He's once retired before and supposedly this is his last Olympic competition after receiving the Bronze? I forget...
Not a whole lot else. Ill have to pick up that mag too. What specificly is in the mag thats makes it worth looking at? Technique demos? Personal history? Insight?

I agree. It's really hard to find MA magazines. I belong to the BJA (British Judo Association) and get the magazine run by Bob Willingham - The World of Judo. It's a great magazine. The photo's are great which is not surprising as he's the official IJF photographer! He has a web site by the same name (World of Judo) which has tons of great stuff and photo archives.
I recommend visiting the web site and getting the magazine, it's quarterly.
p.s. maybe this thread should be in the Martial Media section?

Do you guys have Borders? I've consistently found them to be well stocked with Grappling, Fightsport (when it was around), and most other more well-known martial arts magazines (Inside Kung-fu, etc.)
Speaking of Jimmy Pedro, he's running for President of USA-Judo. There's a letter asking to support him from Jim Bregman over on USJA's website.
Peace

The election was this weekend. No word yet on the outcome from USJA or USJI's page. Anyone know anything?
